Thinking of building a multiple guitar stand out of oak. Nothing too fancy but something a little nicer looking for home use. Wanting to use 2" Velcro (loop side) for areas in contact with instrument. Does anyone know if the loop side of industrial strength Velcro will harm nitro finishes. Would I be better off with leather or felt. Any other suggestions?

Leather and felt are probably the safest. The fuzzy/carpet side of velcro is probably safe. My main concern would be the adhesive used on velcro backing , if the possibility of bleed thru exists. (It's most likely fine). With nitro the prime thing to avoid is anything vinyl.

Thanks Frank, Hadn't really thought about the adhesive. Good call. Randy

I have several guitar stands that I have replaced the rubber contact points with the carpet side of Velcro. I leave guitars with nitro finishes on them frequently for weeks at a time and haven't had a problem.

I had a coue guitars mildly react with nitro. Felt would probably be best.

Definitely felt or velvet. Why take any chances when you don't have to?
