I'll be looking forward to your review. Over the years on this forum, I have realized that we share many of the same tonal impressions and opinions. So far, the Doc's description on the web site is far different than the ones of the early reviewers of this amp (to me, at any rate). Congratulations on the new amp.

Thanks, all. SWMBO had an agenda for the evening, so I have not even plugged it in. Tomorrow.

Finally got some Therapy today. Quick impressions playing LP with buckers into the Cel Gold in the Z Wreck combo cab: very flexible, very toneful, master is superb, volume is also gain (as others have noted). Having jj's (gotmojo) observation in hand about the tone controls (all off =no sound), I explored them with the amp set pretty clean. Each knob's envelope does not change as you move it up/down. You just get more or less volume. For example, the amp sounds quite OK with just the bass knob up if you're after a full, jazzy tone; to be sure, most would season it with some mids and treble. The center frequency of the treble knob seems to be fairly high, almost treble/presence. I didn't advance to trying to understand if the tone control envelopes or my perception of their ranges change in conjunction with moving volume up into gainer territory. A few fun settings:(1) V around 10:30, B and M cranked, T @ 2:00 or so -- lots of "bark" on tap from boosting guitar volume. (2) V same, B and T up past noon, Mid @ 9:00, Master up a little from (1) -- not blackface but has a good clean with hair sound with my LP. (3) Anything with V above 1:30 Bedroom level: well, not a whole lot of fun but yes, you can crank volume with the master dialed below 9:00 and experience a fair amount of sustain. I almost coaxed a little feedback on certain notes. I found I was getting tones I liked out of this amp immediately. Bonding was very quick. I would say one gets up the learning curve very fast with this amp, but there will be a whole lot of territory to explore even after you're quite comfortable using it. In contrast, I'm still figuring out the Antidote

Thanks Mike! Was looking forward to some words from you. Yeah, the tone knobs don't seem to be interactive, really. They just dial in more or less of where they live - very intuitive and very useful. And you're right, and it's a good point, one gets comfortable with this amp right off the bat. I like that volume knob up at least to noon to 1:00, then the MV to how loud you want it. MV below about 10:00 is OK but it makes you want more, MV noon and above is really singin'.

I'm going to swing back to read the tone review. I just pulled up this thread, and I'm still not over how nice that amp looks! I want to get too overwhelmed.
