What seems to be the major power supply for effects pedal? is it the voodoo lab power plus 2? Im having an issue with my pedal board and cant for the life of me figure it out. I recently bought a TS808 hand wired tube screamer and when I have it in my signal chain after about a minute of amp warming up, it will start to make a terrible howl, hum, whistle, staticy type sound for a few minutes then fade out and everything will be fine and quiet. I thought it was a bad pedal so I exchanged it for another new one and this one does the same thing as well. if I take the 808 out of the signal chain, the amp is completely quiet and no problems, but the minute I put it back in the signal and on board, it will make straic noise, whistling, noisy for a few minutes then fade out and everything is fine. Im wondering if its my power supply im using now, which is a sanyo pedal juice which will let me be powered cordless and not worry about plugging in an outlet. If I change this powered method to say maybe a voodoo lab power source, would that help with the noise and stop this static? its driving me out of my mind trying to figure out why its doing it only with a tube screamer.

The thing about the pedal power is it just works. No fuss no muss.

I have the HW TS808 and power it with the PP 2+ and it works just fine with several other pedals on the board.
Do you have a Boss power supply laying around? If so, I'd try powering the TS with it without any other pedals hooked up. If all works well, see how it then does with the rest of the board (TS with the Boss, Sanyo powering the rest).

Get the Pedal Power 2 Plus and you can also run a Chicago Iron Octavia

Ive actually tried just powering it with a 9v battery. the 1st 808 I got still made the noises, yesterday I used it with a battery on my EZG50 and it worked fine. today I plugged it in with the sanyo and using my Maz jr and it started up making noise again. . I think I might just buy a pedal plus 2 and use that. It seems it only really wants to be difficult with the jr. but the jr is in perfect working order and Don from the repair department insists theres nothing wrong with the amp.

Did you try a different power supply cable with that pedal or a different output on you power supply? Does it do this with a battery in the pedal?

Try the TS in a different spot on your board.

^^^^^ Yes
Also, have you tried setting up the rig in a different place/room? I get weird noises sometimes when I set up in my office at home which contains a wireless router, wireless printer, etc.
As for the PP2+ though, it's been an excellent investment and has worked flawlessly for many years. Highly recommended.

FYI I never had any trouble w the Sanyo Juice Box. I suspect power supply cable.

You might be having a problem with the actual plug on the TS. Since it's a part that's just soldered onto the board by a couple of small contacts and gets stressed every time it gets plugged/unplugged, it can get loose or crack the solder connection.

the TS is brand new, both of them were brand new, and bothh make the same noise. If Imove it on a different spot on the board then it does change my tone somewhat as I like how it sounds at the end of my OD chain and before my boost pedal. I never had a problem with the sanyo pedal juice either. the noise didnt start until the TS was put in the signal. I can remove it and everything is dead quiet, then I put it in, and after a few minutes of the amp being turned on, it starts whistling, and a low end howling, white staticy noise for a few minutes then goes away and everything is fine and dead quiet. Im ata total loss of trying to figure it out. I went therough every cable and connector and everything is fine. the only thing I can think of is maybe trying a pedal power 2 and using that to see if it stops it

ok, so I took the advice and tried it in front of all the other pedals as I went to play again today and the noise started. I moved it to first in the chain and so far it seems to be working and quiet and the tone hasn't changed to the negative for me being in a different spot. so Ill give this a try for a bit and see if that's the solution. Just curious as to why moving it would stop the whistling, staticy type sounds?

You may slice off my head, but I have been using the Visual Sound 1 Spot for over two years...it powers a barber tone press, a barber direct drive, a custom made dual pedal by Eddie on here..been on the board since I got it outlasted two KOT..and an orignal Marshal BluesBreakerV1,a Carl Martin Classic Chorus and two old style metal Dan Electro Delays...have never had a problem, not so much as a blink...no noise, works perfectly every time from generator power to bar light circuts to you name it....I paid 25.00 for the whole thing with all the adapters etc....I have no complaints at all I bought an extra to use as back up just in case of a problem and its never been out of the box...1700 miliamps of power...YMMV of course

I know it's just wrong, but I too have had no tonal/interference difficulties with this low rent powering solution, even in electrically challenging circumstances. Just call me cloth ears, but I know that success with this cheapo scenario is what has stopped me springing for a Voodo Lab or Burkey or CIOKS power plant. And all this despite spending A Lot on cables and other interconnects...

I know this is an old thread, but it's pertinent. I have tried different pedal power solutions over the years, and built several up out of old computer power bricks. For a couple of bucks you can get a 3 wire 9 volt regulator chip, which is in a TO-220 case, and hook it up to an old computer power supply, up to 20 volts, and it'll give you rock steady 9 volts of regulated power. The problem is that then you need to house the thing and that's cool if you like DIY stuff. But it's one option. Here's the regulator, I found it at Jameco for $0.35 each! It'll handle any DC input voltage up to 30 volts and put out 9 volts regulated at 1500 mA (1.5 Amps). And I bet everyone has a couple of old laptop power supplies laying around. www.jameco.com/1/1/34873-ld1086v90-ld1086-1-5a-low-drop-positive-fixed-voltage-regulator-9v.htmlThe Visual Sound One Spot that was mentioned above is a great option. I guess it doesn't get much love from the boutique crowd but it is well made and works great. 1700 mA (1.7 Amps) of 9 volt power with all the adapters plus an 8 plug daisy chain...what's not to love for $25? I have two of 'em heh heh...
