Interested if anyone has swapped the gz34 for a 5u4 or 5u4gb or even a solid state cap? I want to change the feel of the amp but not sure which way yet.

I think the 5u4 is the hardest rec tube on the amp. I wouldn't suggest it unless you really love that tube. Try a 5y3

Not sure I would go with a 5Y3 in a dual 6L6 amp. It's going to get mighty warm. The amp can take either the 5U4 or Solid state without a problem depending on if you decide to stiffin it up or get more sag. A 5V4 might be a nice compromise between the 5AR and the 5U4 if you can find one.

I'm not using a 5y3. The 5u4 is a good choice for sag. I think I'll try it. I have a 5v4 here too that I might try. I haven't considered that.
