I thought it would only be a proper amp section if there was a topic relating to speakers. So...
What speakers are recommended or what will you use with the Therapy?

I'll have a matching 1-12 w/Gold that should do the trick.
Also a 2-12 w/ Creamback M's that should be sweet too.

I'll probably try Z Best first, then a 1x12.

The Therapy I played was thru 1x12 with a cream back. This is turning out to be a good speaker with Z amps, its nice and smooth. I also played thru a Zbest and it sounded glorious! Huge bottom but not boomy. Was punchy too Todd

doctrice: Your 1x12 will be with what speaker? Creamback first. I have an EV 12 in a Mesa cab also. I suppose I could connect it to the Gold in the Z Wreck combo too.

I'm thinking that amp begs to be mated with a 4x10.

I always liked Pete's aproach..."this is what I have and I am going to make it work" it's funny, but I used to get very obsessed by the latest and greatest, or the classic, or whatever I thought I needed for THAT sound. Then when I started gigging much more, I realised three things: 1. 95% of the audiences couldn't tell the difference between a crappy Squier played through a crappy solid state amp, and a Custom Shop Signature LP played through a brace of DrZ amps 2. 95% of all tone is in the fingers, so 95% of the time if I get a crappy tone, the fault is my crappy fingers, not my gear. 3. I buy great gear for MY benefit, but I like to think it makes me a better player, ergo point 2.

OK guy's I did do some 12" speaker testing today with the demo Therapy that is being shipped to Dave Baker. Let me say that prior to the 1X12 tests I used a stock Z Best with great results. The Z Best is excellent, but it can be a bit over kill is most stage settings. So the single twelve is what I believe 70% of the players will use. Here is my assessment on the 12's I tested.
G-12-65 Celestion Silvers , Excellent cleans and crunch, well mated to the Fenderish vibe of the Therapy. The only giggle is a slight sogginess in the Over Driven tones, not bad but others faired better.
G-12 H 30 Way to bright by itself. Could not dial out the spike.
V 30 Surprisingly a GREAT match for the Therapy. Smooth highs, your not afraid to spin the treble knob. Rich chewy Mids, the V-30 has a bit of a Mid hump and the slight scooped Therapy takes advantage of the ability to fill out the sound or hollow it up by adjustment of the Mid pot. The Therapy has strong lows and the V 30 does not extend them just musically reproduces in a very smooth fashion.
Celestion Alnico Gold As expected an excellent choice , brilliant top end and smooth efficient response of all frequencies in the most round of terms. But I'm not sure it's $200.00 better then the similar V 30 . Some will say yes it is, but most will be happy with a V 30 .
More single twelve's to follow in testing, so stay tuned.

Awesome, thanks for the info Doc. I trust your perception more than most! I'm curious as to how the G12M Creamback will fare as well. Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Proboards

Hmmm, I just happen to have a couple well broken in V30's. This may be Z number two for me. Thanks for the report Doc!

John reckons the Creamback is wonderful with the Therapy......... He's thinking of offering that as the standard speaker for this amp. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this one Doc?

Just ran a V30 with the Therapy and it is really nice!
Smooth top end and seems to be a great match. Creamback was great as well but a little crispier on top (it is not fully broken in).

I'm really considering the WGS v30 variant to get a few dBs lower efficiency.

For me, 2x12 Golds open back cab is stellar with Therapy as well as it was meant for a perfect pair with StangRay. ZBest is a monster at high volume.

I just spent an hour playing EC Strat --> Therapy --> Creamback in closed-back cab. Incredible sound, and I stayed mostly clean on the amp settings. I can't compare fairly to the Gold (in the Wreck combo) because that session was with my LP.

^^^ The 4x10 likely will be my next cabinet paired with the Therapy. Mike, have you tried the Creamback 1x12 in an open back cab? I only have a 1x12 convertible cab, and usually have it open backed, so I need to get the right speaker (I'm enjoying the G12 65 in there, so it would need to be special to replace that)

The Avatar cab's convertible feature is cumbersome compared to a Z: you have to remove the entire back to then remove/replace the panel. I probably should invest in a power screwdriver! Aside: In a "doesn't it always go like this" whinge, I have meetings for the next several days and a working weekend ahead of me -- rare in the extreme as I'm retired -- so little chance that I'll be doing any careful listening. I can't complain too much, though, as this work enables my Z acquisitions
