My 45 has always been acting a bit funny. There was always this little "rattle"-like sound coming from it when you hit a string hard enough. It kinda got buried when I used pedals so I ignored it. But I decided to finally get it checked out when I got it retubed, and apparently there were some loose solder connections, and an issue with the bias cap. My tech has contacted Z and got his advice, and the issue was temporarily fixed. Luckily enough, I played the amp before taking it home and then another issue came up, same kinda thing, but different and more pronounced. My tech thinks it's another solder joint issue.
He thinks that one of the possible causes is that there is a place where there should be a support, but there isn't. My 45 is a combo. I was wondering if anyone of the handful of people with a KT-45 combo had a similar issue. By many accounts Z amps are quite roadworthy, so I'm wondering what's going on with mine (which may explain why I got a good deal on it).

I guess not to toot my own horn, but from what I understand, there is only one other KT-45 combo out there. So this thread was meant for one guy out there who most likely isn't on the forum.
Anyway, the "new" issue was fixed, just some bad solder joints. That little bit of rattle is from a little piece that was supposed to hold the EF86 in place, and maybe something else. It's not a huge deal, I'll probably find out what it is and fix it.
My tech really loved the tone of my amp, btw.
Rock on and Pce out

Only one (1) other combo in existence! Wow! I was not aware these were so rare!
I own a KT-45 combo. Serial Number: L11035. It is black skinned with gold cloth.
Mine has no noticeable rattles.

do you have anything supporting your tubes?

The small tubes have metal fully surrounding them. The large tubes have just a bit of metal at the bottom that ensures they are pushed in properly when installed.

I know own forumite atalog's but I thought there were a few KT-45 combos out there? Still have mine it's not getting used much due to school conflicts. Perhaps the Doc could confirm the number in existence?

I'm gonna try and get my buddies serial # off a KT combo, he got it a few months ago and has had nothing but problems be it solder joints or EF86's, makes some odd sounds at first and then gets better, wonder how many of these are out there, I've heard up to 6...one of the speakers was destroyed after shipping too, maybe he didn't notice early enough and things got worse...
