Hey guys. I played a gig this past weekend with my newly install voodoo nocaster tele pickups through my M12 with my wampler ego, faux echo, and paisley drive. It was absolutely the best tone I have ever had. Ronnie milsap was playing the main stage at the venue, after his performance, his band came and watched our show. His guitar player wanted to talk to me afterwards. He complimented me several times on my tone. He said that hearing me play convinced him that he needed to buy a DR Z M12. It was very cool to hear him talk about how good my rig sounded. By the way, if you have not tried the voodoo nocasters, you should. Best tele pickup I've ever played.

That is really cool. Might have steered another player to join the Z nation. Congrats--always a fun gig when the rig sounds right. Even better to get a compliment from another player. Good stuff.

The new "nocasters" are amazing. Very beefy and not at all shrill or harsh.

Those Florence Voodoo's will sure put the snap in your tele. Been thinking of getting a more traditional sound from my ASAT Classic...may have to give these babies a try!

I love my Voodoo 60's in my Tele bridge with a Ego Comp and Hot Wired into an Rx Jr. Thick, chunky twang for days!

Nice! I've been looking into the new nocaster pickup but there's not really any info out there yet other than Crook has used them in a few of Brad's new guitars. Can you compare it to any other pickups?

For me the simplest way to describe them is that they have more vintage snap than the Fralin Blues Special which I also really love.

I've been trying to locate the nocaster pickup all day but it appears the limited first stock has already sold out. I shoulda known that would happen after Brad played it... Never ends.

I have both a TE50 and a custom tapped TE60 that came in my Crook tele. Both are great pickups so that has me interested in the nocaster. I really dig the TE50 but I don't need the nocaster if they are similar.

I just received a second set today. Can't wait to get them installed. Contact bob at 9 south guitars. He is a florance dealer and could maybe let you know when he'll receive more. They are by far the best tele pu I've ever heard!!

Yea I've actually emailed Bob. They are out of stock at the moment but he expects more within a week. How does the neck pickup sound jlowder? Is it clear and fat or more of a dark vintage tone?

To my ears it's very clear and fat. I find myself using the neck pickup with the nocaster set more than any other pickups I've used. I've had fralins, fender custom shops, Duncan's, and even the florance TE59, and TE60. The nocasters sound much better than anything else I've tried.

That's good to know. I was actually about to order a Fralin Blues Special neck pickup to go with my TE60 but I may just get a complete set of the nocasters if the neck pickup is usable.

I did have fralin blue specials in my highway 1 tele...Neck pickup in that guitar was dark to my ears....(in that guitar)
I really think your on the right track with the nocaster neck p/u...I rarely recommend pickups...to my experience can sound great in one guitar and so,so in the other?..fwiw...nothing beats actually having them in your greasies.

I'm wedded to the bridge pickup in my '51 Nocaster but the neck position doesn't get much use. I've been considering a Lollar Royal-T. How does the Voodoo neck compare to that?

Peter responded back to me last night. He recommends the TEF longneck with the Nocaster. So I'm assuming thats what is being sold with it as a set. Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Proboards

Nocaster set on the way! I have wanted to try the longneck for some time now so this is a "kill two birds with one stone" situation. I have both his TE50 and a custom TE60 that came in my Crook so I can't wait to try the Nocaster and see where it fits in.

Do give us a report on your findings...curious as I am somewhat still searching.
Talked to mike lull/here in seattle...he even admits in can be tough to nail down the grail.

I got the nocasters installed just in time for rehearsal yesterday. I like them. I just got them put in so I'm still getting the heights just right etc. The nocaster bridge is bright (not ice pick at all though), so I really wasn't too crazy with it running through my Rx Jr. I did also play it through my Super-Sonic 22 and liked it much better with that amp because it has a little more fatness to the sound. The Rx Jr is pretty mid-scooped, so bright amp with bright pickup isn't my favorite. I could see how this pickup would work well with a more mid-focused amp like the Wreck or M12. It's just a good clear tele sound with a little bit of fatness added in. There's just enough fullness to keep it from sounding thin. There's plenty of twang on tap but like I said, it's not harsh or ice-pick at all, even with the bright Rx. Probably my favorite part of the pickup right from the start was how the lows come through. With this pickup, even the low E and A strings have a twanginess to them. They are really clear an open sounding which I really liked. It sort of reminds me Vince Gill's tones on the Bakersfield album (minus his chops of course!).
I installed the pickup in my Crook tele, which came stock with a custom wound Voodoo from Peter. I guess Bill had him wind up a tapped pickup that is based on the TE60. One tap has an overwound 60's sound, pretty fat with lots of low end and low mids with some 60's twang. The full tap is something over 12k I think, pretty hot and very full sounding, a little more low end and slightly reduced highs. This is the pickup that I'm used to, so the nocaster seemed a little thinner compared to it. The nocaster has more twang. It's not bad at all, just different. I'm going to leave it in for awhile and try to get everything adjusted the way I like it.
If you like traditional tele tones, this THE pickup to have IMO. I really can't get over how the low strings sound on this pickup.
