I plugged my V2 Mazerati 1x12 combo amp into my 1x12 with a Creamback the other day. Was just curious to see how it would sound compared to the Gold. I kinda was digging the tone. I usually run it through a Celestion Gold but I am surprised to say I may like the Creamback better.
Has anyone else here tried their Mazerati through a Creamback? What do you think? Would you like a Gold or Creamback better?

I still have a vintage 30 in my Mazerati. I have wanted a Gold, but, don't really want to pay that much for a speaker. Which Creamback did you try, m or h? thanks in advance!

Which Creamback did you try, m or h? thanks in advance! i understand your "hesitation" on spending the money. but the V30 is probably the WORST speaker for a Mazerati that i have ever heard. I have had my Mazerati for about 7 years, and have tried about 20 different speakers. the Gold (imho) is the Best speaker for the 'Rati. I had bought the v30 because it was "supposed" to be like a ceramic version of the blue....it's not even close. it is really bassy, scooped mids and this really piercing brightness that i could not dial out. for metal/rock amps....totally different story. great speaker. I had the same hesitation to getting the gold, but ONE strum...and I knew. it was that obvious....that quickly. The gold is better than the V30 in every way possible. do yourself a favour....get a gold. they can be bought second hand pretty cheap.

Just an update. I tried the Creamback, a Gold and a G12H-30 in my Mazerati 1x12 combo. I was getting this weird heavy mid tone with the Creamback and Gold which I could not dial out. They (Gold/Creamback) sounded OK clean but as soon as I turned on the Klon KTR or KOT, the mids were just too much.
So I decided to tear apart my Z Best and try the G12H-30s since it is known for less mids. Bam! That was the ticket. The G12H-30 is exactly what I was looking for. Nice cleans and great overdriven tones. I had this amp listed for sale for a couple hours before I tried that G12H speaker. I promptly took it down. Wow, what a tone machine.
I did some digging and found that the G12H-30 was the stock speaker picked by Dr Z when the amp was new. Now it all makes sense. The Mazerati is an awesome amp and I can't wait to take it out to my next gig and try it out with the G12H-30. I don't know why the Doc ever stopped making these amps cause they totally rock and are loud as heck.

You know, I don't get to take my Rati v2 out very often, but have it "in the rotation" at home, so I've been playing it a good bit recently; I reallly do wonder why it was discontinued. I mean, I like my 28 and KT, but the Rati is a whole different deal.

I am getting a Mazerati (v2 I believe) this week. Just wondering what styles of music you guys are playing in relation to the speaker preference?

I play modern country and rock. I just swapped my G12H with the new Celestion G12X35 Limited Edition 90'th anniversary speaker. So far, I like it.

With the right speaker, this is one of the best sounding amps Dr z has made. There was another post recently and they were talking how the "Big Iron (transformers)" amps sound better. What they meant is that the bigger transformers gave a more solid sound. I would say the Mazerati V2 falls into this category as well. It has solid bass and a wonderfulpresence to it. It sits well in the mix and cuts through with the band and has a ton of power.
