Anyone get in on one? I got a notice from a dealer that I was on the list and one was available. So, I have one on the way. I sold my original when the prices were around $500.... Now they are pushing $700...but for how long? If the builder can keep the supply coming, the day of the high $$ re-sale may be in the past.....or is it?

I have a KTR from the first batch that were sold in 2012. I was lucky enough to get a second one the other day from Humbucker Music. Now maybe I can play one without worrying about it.

June 13, 2014 , 11:47 am Notice Left (No Authorized Recipient Available) Was really looking forward to spending some time with my new KTR tonight. I'm ready to compare my KWM & Mythical Overdrive with the KTR. I really liked the first one I had and find myself missing it from time to time. Glad to have another one in the house......tomorrow!

I was able to get one. Good sounding pedal. I may just keep this one this time. I did notice that they no longer have serial numbers. Anyone else confirm that? The first run of KTRs had it stamped on the box as well as the pedal had it written inside the chassis.

I got notification too that a KTR is reserved for me, but I think I'm going to pass. I have a decent Klone already which sounds pretty much the same as my original silver Klon used to, and I sort of don't feel like buying back into the whole Klon hype thing. The only thing I'd be gaining is the knowledge that I had a "real" Klon instead of a Klone, but I'm sure no-one would actually hear the difference.

Buy it and sell the Klone, the Klon has one of the best buffers out there plus some smooth sustain... Hype or not it's one of the best pedals out there for what it does.

Nope, the "Klone" I have is the Fredric Golden Eagle, made in London, which has the same buffer and charge pump in it. To my ears it sounds and feels the same as the silver Klon I owned a few years ago. It was half the price of a KTR, better made and looks nicer. Plus I really don't want to buy into the whole Klon thing again, and I'm not interested in selling it on for a profit. I've told the dealer I no longer need it. I just use the Eagle as an occasional boost after my KOT, though to be honest the yellow side of the KOT would probably do as good a job. I agree the Klon is a nice pedal, but to each his own. www.fredric.co.uk/golden-eagle

Got my new KTR yesterday and it sounds just as awesome as my first one did. I've been comparing it to my 2 Klones and they are all close. A few subtle differences. You probably could not tell if they were not side by side.
The KTR seems to have a little something special going on though.....must be the "pixie dust"!! lol
Glad I got another.

Got one--gonna A/B it with my Soul Food today at some point and see how they stack up as boosts. There's also the buffer issue--we'll see how it plays with the buffer in my Belle Epoch.

I haven't opened the second one to see if there was a serial number, but I have read someone opened their's and there wasn't one inside the pedal. They sound fantastic with or without a serial number.

It may be there. So disappointed I missed a new batch! Otherwise I would take a picture and show you Possible he did it different. But that's how it was before. They weren't always on the box. But they were always on the circuit board

That's cool Mickey, dig that pedal too! Ha ha... of course now I'm thinking maybe I should have got the KTR after all, maybe that pixie dust does exist and maybe it does sound better than the Golden Eagle! Hmm, the Eagle is a nice pedal though, and as I said before it totally reminds me of how my original silver Klon was.... aarrrgghh....who knows!

Ha ha... of course now I'm thinking maybe I should have got the KTR after all, maybe that pixie dust does exist and maybe it does sound better than the Golden Eagle! I'm thinking, when the KTR comes up for sale at a normal price, makes all kinds of sense to buy it!...lol This pedal kicks a$$! I didn't really want to sell my first one. Nothing I didn't like about it, just needed that $500+ at the time. Hanging on the this one.

OK, guess what the postman brought me today?! I'll test it next to my Golden Eagle later. Could be a large portion of humble pie is about to be eaten here!

I got one from the new batch the other day, and I have been nothing but impressed by it. The overdrive is surprisingly good as well. I know most people just use it as a clean boost, but as a true overdrive pedal it's much better than most people seem willing to admit.

Nothing I didn't like about it, just needed that $500+ at the time. Hanging on the this one. Well, humble pie eaten here, I got the KTR after all and I'm keeping it. It does sound virtually identical to my Golden Eagle, and at first I couldn't hear any difference at all, even playing the two through three different amps, duplicating the settings on the two pedals, and going from a Strat to a Tele to humbuckers and then P90's. then I tried again the next day, and the one difference I then heard is that the KTR just sounds slightly bolder, with just a bit more girth to the notes. It still responds the same way, and I have to say the difference is very slight but it is there. It sounds just a bit stronger. so I'm keeping it, but I maintain that Eagle is an excellent klone, and well worth the money at half the price of the Klon. The difference I hear could just be down to component tolerences, or pixie dust, but who knows.

That's the same way I felt when comparing the KTR to my Klone. The Klon just has that something extra, as much as I love my KOT also. Glad you enjoy the pedal! Funny, I sold my Klone to my neighbor who thinks his od tones are just as good with his boss me50.... I digress, thin and shrill is an observation I tried to help him with...

Ha ha...thin and shrill is not what we want, though I guess any dirt pedal will do that if you set it up wrong! I'll be using the KTR the same way as I use my klone, ie as a bit of a boost after my KOT, and occasionally on it's own. First gig with it tonight!

Got on the waiting list for the next shipment several months ago. In my email today is a notice that they are finally in. Hit the "pay" button and I should have it in a week or two. Looking forward to finally being able to try the real thing!

Got mine today and I can see what the fuss is all about. I have it set for a mild OD….just a skosh over a clean boost.
This particular one has a few nicks and mild scratches….nothing major but they are there. Sent an email to the retailer who has put me in touch with Bill F. It's not a biggie because it does sound real good, but I'm interested to see what Bill says. The retailer assures me it's a brand new unit.

Found a great article- www.premierguitar.com/articles/20210-builder-profile-klons-bill-finnegan?page=2-that raises a question. Myth 3 states that the new klons are using surface mount parts vs through hole, he states that there is no tonal difference. Does anyone have any experience with these differences? And I absolutely don't question the prowess of Bill Finnegan by any means- just have limited knowledge on the differences. I can get an original, I can get the money (if I can eat less, a lot, less and stay off of eBay! Haha) but I have no issues with the new pedals so long as the surface mount parts have no effect on tone and longevity. I have a ts808 reissue, (about go to analogman), that sounds great on my '82 Marshall 4103 but on my new maz 38, that I am deeply in love with btw, it just sounds...fake...if that makes any sense. Thanks! J
