Just thought I'd throw out an update on my tube experiments. I put a NOS GE 5 Star 5751, (from KCA), into the V1 on my Maz Sr. I really like what's happened to the sound. For some reason, I didn't notice that big of a difference with my tele, but with my Strat & Gretsch 6120 I really like the sound. It is smoother, a tad richer, and doesn't break-up as quickly. I might add, that a while back I replaced the rectifier with a NOS JAN Phillips 5AR4, which also had a positive impact.
What fun!! ;D

You should try a 5751 in the PI position as well. You'll like it!

I put a 5751 in V1 and the PI because I was looking for a little cleaner sound and headrom which it gave me, but after playing that way for about a month I switched back to the 12ax7 and realized the amp really sounds much richer and fuller with the 12ax7's and I couldn't live without that. The NOS rectifier is definitely an improvement and should probably be the first thing replaced when experimenting with tubes. Another thing that seemed to open the amp up quite a bit was replacing the sovtek 12ax7lps in the PI with a svetlana.

Chinese 12AX7 in V1 and V2 and 5751 in PI position. Try it, it's magic with the Master wide open and the Volume/Gain adjusted to taste.

I absolutely love the tone I get out of my MAZ JR with a 5751 in V1. So much tighter sound in the bass, warmer treble, and also seems to clean things up a bit. Haven't tried a high quality 5751. Only a Groove Tube 5751.
