Hi folks, can I safely remove the two outer power tubes for reduced volume in my Maz38? I have done it on other amps with no probs but I don't want to put my Z in any danger!

no!!!! Don't do it. It requires all 4 tubes. Get an Air Brake instead.

Thanks for the advice -I guess i won't be removing any power tubes! I have a couple Marshall power brakes and I usually use one of them for the desired volume. Just that I'm trying to downsize and the power brake is kinda bulky and delicate so it's a pain. My only prob with Z/trainwreck attenuator is it only has one speaker output. All that aside thanks again for the info!

This can be done in many grid biased amps with a change in setting to the output transformer impedance switch but not in most cathode biased amps such as this one.
