I am very excited today - just received a matched pair of British NOS Brimar 12AX7s (military CV4004s). They look pristine and I can't wait to try them in the 6545 and the SRZ-65RH!!!
Here's a question: is there a process (I seem to recall hearing something about a "burn in") to optimize the performance of these NOS tubes? Is it fine to just throw 'em in and crank 'em, or do they need a gentler breaking in?
Cheers, Blair

Have now tested each of the 2 Brimars in V1 of the 6545. Fantastic! The best 12AX7 I've heard yet. Beautiful note detail. Excellent sound for both clean and crunch. These are great tubes.
(FWIW, in this V1 slot, I previously tried: Sovtek B, Svetlana, German RFT (NOS), and the Groove Tubes ECC. And the ONLY other one I liked, a surprisingly close second to the Brimar, is the GT ECC. True story.)
Cheers, Blair

Break in totally not necessary in any way shape or form.
Plug em' in and have a blast.
They are pretty spectacular.

The Brimars may be one of the best tubes I have ever tried in the SRZ-65. I also love the RFT in these amps and in any Marshall type amps.
