I've recently been building my NOS EF-86 stock for my Stingray. It came with a Dario Miniwatt, and I purchased another Dario from KCA for a backup. I've recently picked up 2 Mullard EF-86's from 1961 ANOS, and last week 2 Amperex Bugle Boy EF-86's made in France, early 60's I believe, NOS with original boxes. I should note that I've also replaced the mislabled Phillips/Sylvania 5V4, with a NOS Mazda branded Mullard GZ34 made in 1975. The Mullard's are to my ear similar to the Darios, with the Dario's being a little brighter, and the Mullards being a little deeper and richer. The NOS Amperex Bugle Boy EF-86 absolutely blew me away . Unbelievably rich, and creamy sound, yet still with all the chime you could ask for!! And my dirty sound via the pedals has been taken to a different level. Between this and the Mullard GZ34, the Stingray has never sounded better! Harold
