For about a year now I've been gigging my Remedy and using the Z28 as a back up. She still got play time at home, but never out. Well, as some of you may remember, I'm in a state of flux regarding bands, and am playing in two bands now and honestly, the Remedy suits neither particularly well. So I rehearsed with the Z28 in one band, and BAM! Perfect! So she is taking prime spot this Sat, with the Remedy acting as back up. I am looking forward to it a lot, as that zing with girth, the depth of clean, the ability to soak up pedals, is JUST what I need for this gig. As for my other band, I need a more Therapy style tone, so reluctantly I will be trading the Remedy for a Therapy, when it gets released. I'm going to do something radical with that band for a couple of gigs, and gig my Orange Tiny Terror 1x12 combo. This band needs a lot more gain, but not the type of gain the Remedy has, so I'll see how the TT works out for a bit of fun. I may end up using the Remedy clean with pedals but I could probably do just as well with the Z28 and pedals too, and with a lighter head and smaller footprint, the Z28 would be easier on the back. I may end up putting it in a small form factor 1x12 or a Z 1x10 combo. I've said it before and I'll say it again - Z28 = Desert Island Amp

Hey Pete,
Thought you would never sell the remedy! Ha
What differences does the z28 hold over the remedy?
Have you tried the Therapy?
I thought I read that peaches guitars had one? What's it's like?

HA! Believe me Dean, if I could afford to just buy the Therapy and keep the Rem, I would. The Rem is a wonderful amp, truly wonderful, but it's just not going to get played in my new musical world, which is a shame. The Z28 has much more headroom than the Remedy, so is more versatile IMHO - you can keep it clean and add as many pedals as you like. It just sucks them up. It has this Fender thing going on, but has much more girth. People say it has a Marshall quality. I don't know enough about Marshalls to confirm or deny, but I do know it has a much more muscular tone than any Fender I've ever played, so you get that headroom, with balls, if you will. I love the simplicity of it too - 3 knobs - and no amp I've ever played makes each guitar sound "more" of itself, if you see what I mean? A Strat is more Strat-y etc. As for the Therapy, yes I was over with John a couple of weeks back and got hear and play a Therapy prototype. Man that thing ROCKS! A harder edge than the Remedy, which has a fizzy OD tone if pushed. The Therapy has a smoother OD tone, and has tons of harmonic sustain - that's the real catch for me. It didn't get muddy, but rang clear. It compresses in a very forgiving way, yet still cuts through. It had that metallic "clang" when hitting the muted strings and sustained beautifully. Also very attack sensitive and GV sensitive, which I love in an amp. John got his (absolutely gorgeous) LP sounding light and jangly one minute and downright rude the next just by working the GV a bit and digging in. It's in the same family tree, tonally, and the 65amps Whiskey, but sounds better to my ear. John very much concurred that the Therapy has MUCH better cleans, and a more dynamic feel (he has played both comprehensively, so knows what he's talking about as usual). I just fell in love with it in the first minute. It has that gain control thing where you just bring up the amount of gain/harmonics/drive you want with the turn of a single knob (Volume), right to where you want it. Then set the overall volume with the PPIMV (Master) - PERFECT! The Doc said he has a few more tweaks to make, and of course who knows what else he may or may not add / remove, as is his prerogative, but I certainly want the first one to land in the UK, no question. You should head over there and have a play, if John still has it there. I had very limited time sadly, so couldn't do any A/B/C against anything else, but it delivered a tone I have had in my head for a LONG time; a higher gain tone than is usual in Z amps, yet not the EL84 / Monza gain. This is different. Of course, it is much more than just a one trick pony, so has quite a range of tones, but two which stuck in my head were Aynsley Lister's tone from his Marshall 2144 when he's giving it some, and The Edge's tone on the song Vertigo - both of those tones were in there without trying, and many more. I seemed to recognise song after song with each setting change, know what I mean? It just encourages you to keep playing..........

Pete, I have been really thinking about a Remedy from all of your reports but now I'll put it on the back burner. Probably wait until first wave of Therapy reports come out but it sounds like something I would be interested in ( to add with the 28' of course:) ). Great to hear you are back in love with the 28'!

I really don't want to put anyone off the Remedy though, but having played a Therapy, it is very different from the Rem, as is an Antidote for example. They are all superb, but I guess for me, I've had quite a change in musical direction, so a change of amp is needed to accommodate. I've never been out of love with the Z28 - still my desert island amp - it's just great to be playing some stuff where I can really gig her again I had a run through of our playlist at home today, and the Z28 put a great big smile on my face for sure - I am so looking forward to gigging her tomorrow!! I am so spoiled for choice with amps these days - most of my playing life I had one amp, and that was that. Such a joy being able to choose between great amps

Wow cheers for that in depth description Pete!
Sounds like you have got your cheque book out already! Sounds like a great amp.
I'm still very happy with the remedy. I love the fact with just a strat/tele I can get all the tone with just the guitar/amp and volume control.
I'll have to go up there soon to have a play!
Did you try out his SVL strat ?
