I have a Maz 18 1x12 combo with a Brake Lite installed in the interior. I have a Dr Z 2x10 convertible cabinet that I want to run along with the Celestion 12 in the Maz. I have a F/F/M y splitter cable designed for 2 speaker hookups with Z amps. I realize that I have the option of running both speakers into the 4 ohm jack on the Maz via the splitter without the Brake lite. My question is ..... can I place the splitter on the other side of the Brake lite between the speakers, going to speaker out on the Brake Lite and then plug the jack going out of the Brake Lite into the 4 ohm jack on the Maz? I know this sounds confusing but basically I am wanting to be able to use both speakers with the Brake lite. Also what would be the result of using the Brake Lite with the 12" Celestion in the combo and then using the splitter to send an unattenuated signal to the 2x10 cabinet? I can see where there would be a volume difference in the speaker that is attenuated but is there any problem in doing this? Thanks!!

I basically do a similar thing with my on board brakelite in my Maz 18 nr. I run 4 ohm out to the brakelite input then a Y splitter to the on board speaker and a 1x12 cab from the brakelite output . Works fine as splitter is parallel and both speakers are 8 ohm. I am no expert but would think that one side of splitter (from the 4 ohm out on the amp)attenuated and other side not that the amp would still be seeing 4 ohm if both are 8 ohm in parallel. Sure someone else can confirm this would be the case.

I found this somewhere on the Dr Z website, but I'm not sure where. This is what I saved on my iPad.
"Brake lite doesn't care what's on the output side so long as you match the speaker load to the right output on the amp. So if you use a parallel Y cable, and the two speakers are 8 ohms, plug the Y into the Brake lite output, hook both speakers to that, and plug the Brake Lite into the 4 ohm output on the amp."
That answers your first question, but I'm not sure about the second one.

Thanks guys... all of you for your input. I wanted to be sure I wouldn't hurt the amp by running it the way I was talking about but as long as the Maz is seeing a 4ohm load and I use the 4 ohm jack , everything should be fine. Dang I love this amp!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you plug an extension 1x12 cab in the second output of the brake lite without the use of a Y cable? I have a second cab laying around in my studio and I wanted to hook it up with my Maz 8. Thanks! Mitch

Yes--you can plug a second cab into the Brakelite SA without the Y cable. Just be sure to use the correct output tap going from amp to Brakelite. If both of your cabs are 8 ohms, you'd use the 4 ohm tap.
