Well, I dropped out to my dealer at lunchtime and picked up the EZG I couldn't just let it sit out there on layaway. Seeing all of these people bringing home new amps gave me an itch that I had to scratch ! Keith

That big ol' EZG should balance nicely against the mini red head 'Ghia in your avatar picture! Both very cool amps. Congrats!

You're gonna love it. Huge, beefy cleans, takes pedals beautifully, and the best reverb on the planet. If you like the feeling of power from an amp, the EZG delivers in spades.

Congrats! The EZG is a GREAT amp. I should know Phil Proud owner of EZG-50 serial #1 p.s. Running the bass control on "0" is NOT crazy with this amp, especially with a Z-Best or 4X10. Start on zero and raise slowly.

Start on zero and raise slowly. Thanks Phil ! I'm looking forward to some monkey time later this evening. On the bass knob, I've heard that before. It's funny, when the amp showed up at the dealer we had to pull it out and give it a whirl. The bass knob was at noon and I expected it to be a little 'big' in that region. I was surprised when it sounded great. When I came home I did a few searches and I think the new EZGs have been tweaked on the bass side so hat it's not as dominant. I'll find out tonight as I have a ZBest and a Z 210 that I'll try it through. It was funny, the day we pulled it out of the box at the dealer there was nobody in the general area. After a few quick flurries, one of the other sales guys came over to see what was making that glorious sound...then he thanked us for his hearing loss as I left! Keith

Keith If the EZG's bass knob has been tweaked for less bass I didn't know about it. Then again, I just did a year and a half as a Capsicle, so many things have escaped me. I'm just now getting back up to speed. I can tell you that the year the EZG officially came out Doc had one at Z-Fest. Shannon plugged his Strat into it (with the 4X10) as he and Jason were beginning their set at the Jam. Shannon hit some licks. I was in the front row with my camera (as usual) and yelled "Shannon! Just sayin'...you may want to turn the bass control down...you're gonna be steppin' on the bass player!" Shannon turned around, looked, turned back to me and said "It's already on zero!" Even on mine the bass never gets loose or farty at high settings...it just gets REALLY fat. Getting the SRV thing calls for a very low (or off) bass setting. Higher up for jazz.

The newer ones have a modded bass control, evidently. I run mine with a 4x10, bass set at about 11:00--it's perfect for SRV-ish tones. No problem with too much low end.

I believe that they changed the bass circuit in late 2012 or early 2013. Different value caps and pot. I think that they still offer the mod via the Dr Z repair shop.

Well, here's a pic after I finally got to give it a late-night whirl. Kids are in bed, so had to keep the volume low. I'll give it a better run tomorrow, but I like it. If nothing else, this pic reinforces EZGbiscuit's great taste in amps and tolex colours it's hooked to my Z 210 that I've had for a few years but never played much. It really needs to be broken in !

Who is playing in the hockey game? From the refs arm position, it looks like there was no offside call to be made.
