Hi I was just wondering when I am playing certain low notes on the Z28 there is a kind of rattling/vibrating noise, especially on the 10-12 frets of the A and D strings...could this be the amp head or could it just be something in the room that is vibrating at that resonant frequency? Btw, I am playing in a small room!

These can be tough to track down. More often than not, I have found something in the room to be the culprit (but only after being "convinced" i was my guitar...no, my amphead....no, my speaker cab....etc). Get someone to play the note while you track down the vibe. That makes it much easier!
Of course, make sure everything is nice and tight in the amp, speaker cab, etc. Swap guitars, swap cabs,....process of elimination.

Thanks aufamily...just discovered that it was the room and not the Z28, just as I thought!

Just to add, be sure to check all screws in the amp - ALL of them. Not just the chassis bolts. I have had other loose screws that would rattle. Also if you have any tube retainers (metal clips) those can cause issues. Finally - it comes down to the room. Took me forever (and I mean MONTHS) to realize the piano light across the music room would rattle at certain frequencies. I would have bet my first born the sound was coming from the amp.

It must be something to do with the room as when I play at lower volumes there is absolutely no rattle, and also I can hear the paintings vibrating at louder volumes...
