Hi. First post here. I'm in the market for a Maz 18 and I ran across this amp on the local craigslist (2002 2x12 Reverb w/ upgraded Weber Blue Dog Alnico and Silver Bell Alnico speakers). I went and played it last weekend and was very impressed, but I am concerned that the latest model sounds even better as I know there have been some changes in recent years (footswitchable eq bypass, reverb tank, etc.) I can get this particular amp for $1300. Should I jump on it or spend quite a bit more money on a new model? I'd much rather spend some more money and be happiest.
Also, I enjoy reverb as my current amp of the last 5+ years has been a silverface Twin Reverb. But I have read that reverb is not needed with the Maz 18 as it has so much character alone. Maybe I should stick with the NR and buy a decent reverb pedal? I appreciate any advice you may have to offer.

Welcome to the forum! I'd say it all depends on whether or not you think you'd use the EQ bypass. I have the NR Maz and our church bought a reverb model so I've used both quite extensively. The NR has a little more breakup to my ears but it's a small difference. The reverb model I play through has the bypass and my NR does not. I personally don't find it useful for what I do. That being said, I could see where there would be people who love it. I just use a boost pedal when I need an extra push and I love the tone controls of the Maz. So if it were me I'd say save the money and buy that one if you liked the sound. But if you think you need or would use the bypass then save the money and get one with it. I don't think you'll be disappointed either way.
As for the reverb it's subtle. I have a Strymon Flint that I use for reverb so I roll the reverb off on the amp we use at church. It's not the deepest reverb I've heard on an amp but it's got a nice sound to it. Good luck in your search!

I'd say that, since you mention being very impressed, go for the used one.
