Had my 66 with the Z-best outdoors at a block party last night. Other than the trem and wah I probably could (should) have played without any other pedals. Certainly no need for overdrive. The G&L ASAT was sounding great. Real sweet on the bridge pickup which I rarely use with the Ghia or Maz jr. Guitar volume control was getting a good workout. Had 2-2-2 going on the Amp for a while. It's incredible how far you can roll the volume off both Strat and Tele and still cut through and fill the sound.

I just got back from Traverse City doing overdubs with Tim/Surreal McCoy and he had brought his Maz 38, Anniv Ghia and RT 66. We plugged the Rt 66 into a 1 x 12" with an Emi Tonker and never got to the other amps. Subtle changes in that thing got so many great tones. We used my Brooklyn Overdrive a couple times and Tim's MP Golden Cello. Both worked fantastic with the amp.

Phil - It's an older model. Probably 2003? Can't remember. I did tell a little story on the amp back 8-9 years ago ztalk.proboards.com/thread/2677/rt-66-beer-bathThe post-mortem on the amp was that my pal in TC who does fantastic work w/ older Fenders went to work and rebuilt some fried sockets and such w/ the help of Doc Z who sent him schematics or something. My pal was amazed at how friendly and helpful Doc himself was when he called for help on the fix. That amp went on to do shows in NY, DC, West Virginia, Philly and I think it even went in with us to State Correctional Institute Fayette when we did the show at a maximum security prison in Southern Pennsylvania. A few after the prison gig, the power tubes lit up super bright during a show and the amp died. I shipped it to Doc, his crew resurrected the beer bath Rt 66 and she has been perfect ever since. And now you know the rest of the story.

I've got two gigs this weekend. One is an outdoor gig and there will be plenty of room to open up the Rt 66. Just took possession of a Frantone Brooklyn. Roscoe knew a guy that was looking to sell one and I jumped. It really is a killer OD. Tons of bottom end. Pretty damn excited to play.
Dr. Z Bro and fellow Michigander "Rik" from this forum may be in the neighborhood so he and I may have a little Northern Michigan Z-get-together.
