After 1 gig (and several hours of home playing this past week), the Z-Wreck is now my favorite amp of all time. Last nights gig was just a pure pleasure to play the Wreck. With most amps, I need just a little grit in my cleans to cut through and give it sustain.. But not the Z-Wreck, even clean it has that sustain and attack that I really like in a full band setting. It also ate my pedals up, they sounded better than they've ever sounded with any other amp. I was a little worried about getting rid of the Ray for the Wreck..... But no more. The Z-Wreck has taken everything I like from every other Z amp, and put them into one amp. I really love this amp!

Telejas, I very happy to hear you dig your Z Wreck. But I feel I need to comment on the use of your Brake-Lite. They do generate some heat and since that is an install BL it has no bottom cover, just worried it might effect the Silver Tolex with extended use. You can install it in the 2X12 cab, just needs a bit of cable re-work. Or just mount the BL on a piece of wood for safer usage.

Z Hey Doc, thanks for the info... Acutually, the Brake-lite is already mounted to a 1/4 inch sheet of ply-wood (just hard to see in the pic). I've got another, smaller cab I plan on using the Brake-lite in as well, when space is limited.....so that's why I haven't mounted it inside the cab. I do have velcro on the back of the wood and on the inside of the 1x12 for quick mounting/unmounting, I plan on doing that with the Z-Wreck cab too.. Or trading for a SA version. Thanks again!

Hey telejas, I know you used to play the RX Jr, how does the wreck compare . I know they are very different amps but I've been jonesing for a wreck for awhile now, I just don't want them to be too similar.

I have an rxes and a wreck and the rxes and wreck are different. The wreck has a more pronounced mid range and isnt hifi sounding. The rxes sounds scooped vs the wreck. The wreck projects more in a mix as well and gets dirtier. For chicken picking (I try) I like the rxes best but overall I like the wreck. Need both I guess.

This is a pretty good description and is about what I'd say. I'll also add that the RxES/RxJR is a very percussive amp and the Wreck is not quite as percussive and maybe a little more forgiving and the Wreck has more sustain, compression and bloom.....even on clean notes. Also, the "grit" is tighter on the Wreck and little fizzier or rounder on the RxJR, which probably has to do with the EF86 of the Rx.

I mostly run the RX Jr clean or maybe with just a touch of hair or grit dialed in. We do several songs that require pretty clean tones so I usually get dirt from pedals. I like smoother OD vs gritty, so that works out. I had been considering replacing my RX Jr with the 'Wreck but it would be hard to let it go, especially when I need the lower volume of the jr most of the time. Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Proboards
