I've got a set of those. They work but I found it unsatisfactory. Really cut the volume. Seemed like a completely different amp. Not better, just different. I don't why you've got negative Karma but i'm going to bump you one.

Yeah putting Yellow Jackets in there will drop the power to about 15 to 18 watts, and change from Class A/B to Class A. It lowers the power significantly AND changes the entire character of the amp. I have a set that I used in a Blues Deluxe here, and it was great. But not everyone appreciates the tonal difference - it won't sound like a Fender amp at all with the Yellow Jackets in there.
The big advantage (if the power drop isn't the entire advantage) is that you can pull them right back out of there and go right back to your 6L6's.

It won't sound like an AC30, to me anyway. Cuts the power way back, strips the bass out of the amp. It won't hurt your amp at all. If you buy the Yellow Jackets from THD they will come with a pair of EL84's.

You misunderstood me, a pair of EL84s will come with the yellowjackets if you order them from THD, that's the company that makes the Yellow Jackets. Mine shipped with groove Tubes.

Hey Billy, I have tried the Yellow jackets on several of my blackface amps. It just doesn't get the tone or performance you may be expecting. Been there, done that. Do your self a favor and leave your Pro as is with the 6L6's. Do yourself an even bigger favor and invest a Dr Z amp with EL84's. Sounds to me that you are a combo kind of guy...so check out a MAZ Jr or Sr in which ever speaker config works for you. Good Luck!

i agree with the guys above- a pro reverb is a great sounding amp- like a vibrolux w 212 speakers putting different tubes in an amp even though the yellow jackets convert it to el84 and i think self bias(?) you won't get an el84 sounding rig really because an el84 amp has had the whole circuitry built around those tubes and the way they react and their tone- the tone circuitry of a fender and the preamp configuration is totally different and it allows a different preamp tone through- less crunch than an AC30 (similar preamp- cathode follower from memory like marshall and bassman) and different harmonics a pro is a beautiful amp- enjoy it and try a carmen ghia- it'll blow you away

I don't why you've got negative Karma but i'm going to bump you one. That is what they are supposed to do ... the Yellow Jackets or the GT 928PR ... turn a grid biased amp into a cathode biased amp and drop the power by 40-60% Read the user review from the link at the bottom of the page at www.groovetubes.com/product.cfm?Product_ID=1778

Ever tried them in a Z/28 Myles? Nope .... I love my Z-28 the way it is. If I want a cathode biased amp I switch to my Carmen Ghia.
