Because of pedal board space I only have room for a small foot print delay pedal,
about the size of my TC Electronic Looper would be perfect.
What recommendations might you have?

I bought the Red Witch Violetta delay to give to a friend since I already have a T Rex Replica that I use. I was really impressed with the Violetta and it had a small footprint and reasonable price. I use the delay usually for just a bit of slap back, and if I had it to do over, I would not hesitate to go with the Violetta.

+2 Red Witch Violetta- very small, has rechargeable battery, uses typical 9V power supply as well, also has input for expression pedal. Best of all it sounds good.

Mooer has some good-sounding smaller effects.

You need to consider what features you need too. Tap tempo, dual delay settings, dotted eighth ? Also do you want digital, analog, tape, etc. ?

For that it's hard to beat MXR carbon copy. I've heard lots of good things from Wampler faux analog delay. Don't know what your budget is. MXR around $150 and Wampler close to $200.

As far as size if your looper pedal, I don't know of one that small.

The Violetta is a little smaller than the Ditto Looper.

For what you describe, Carbon Copy. Analog (my preference) and easier than most to find used. About the simplest delay there is. No complicated "features" to figure out.

I don't use delay often but when I do it's the TC Electronics Flashback. It's a normal sized stomp but fits well beside my two Xotics and Polytune mini on my Nano with enough room for a Bit Commander for a little something different with an edge. I like that I can also download toneprints via my phone through my guitar into the Flashback if I want a preset I like from an artist. Pretty neat stuff. The Red witch sounds interesting. I've been running my Nano off a Volto and it's held up fairly well. I can't imagine how nice it'd be to charge a board of small stomps and carry no extra power. Oh wait we used to do that when we had 9Vs in all our pedals.

I have had a Love Pedal Echo Baby for about 4 years on my board. It's like a mini old Deluxe MemoryMan, w/ less noise. It also has that EP boost thing going on when you engage it. Looks simple but you can set the bottom set screws for feedback and mix, and the top it Mod and Time. About the size of a large thumb or the TC lopper. love it. it's less than 1/2 the size of a normal pedal.

Not as small but the Catalinbread Belle Epoch is an INCREDIBLE delay pedal. If you're not seeking a digital sounding delay, you must check it out!

The Malekko 616 is also pretty killer for the price, minus a tap feature Had two friends in the past month each buy one, and they sound great.

Some great suggestions in the thread already but I've got a great one yet to be mentioned: Boss DD-7. It's bigger than nano-size but since it sits a bit higher, you can tuck pancake jacks on the patch cable under each other and really snug adjacent pedals up next to it. It's also superlative in regard to tone and features. I'm not a big Boss guy and frankly avoided the DD-7 for years because of it. Self-inflicted wound! Great slapback and warmth in analog mode, ultra-short times give you a double-tracked fatness, the longer times are clear and clean for U2/P&W kinda stuff, it's stereo, it's got tap w/ an external footswitch, and it's got a great buffer for restoring your tone after all those true-bypass pedals I think it's a giant win and I've been through most of the über-tique delays. I also have an AD999 and C-Bread Echorec on the big board, but honestly could use the DD-7 for 90% of my delay needs. Worth a look IMO.

I recently picked up the Ana Echo by Mooer. It is supposed to simulate the vibe from the early Boss DM pedals. I have an 80's DM-3 and it really does get you in the ballpark - It is half the size of a Boss pedal and $88.00 new.

Another +1 on the MXR Carbon Copy if you haven't already gotten a delay, Stan.
I started with an Analog Man dual analog delay (which was cool to have 2 delays ready to go, for instance slapback & repeat) but in the end I found it noticeably "dark." Tried a couple others (digital-based) that sounded a little too clean & bright. The Carbon Copy ended up being the Goldilocks for me--not too dark, but not bright & sterile, either.
