Ive decided im going to swap out my celestion vintage 30 out of my 1x12 cabinet that I use for my maz jr. Im going to install a ceramic weber silver bell. Im debating between a 50 watt and a 75 watt. would there be much difference? the vintage 30 is rated for 60 watts, so theres not much difference plus or minus wattage between the 50 and 75 watt silver bell. Which would be more feasible to get? Id assume that 50 watt would take a bit to break up and even more for the 75 watter, is there much difference between break up of a 50 vs 75 watt and how much smoother would a 75 be compared to a 50?

With Weber speakers, the higher the wattage, the darker the tone. If you're going to use it exclusively with the Maz Jr, personally, I'd go with the 30 watt....or even possibly the 15 watt (if you really want some breakup)....though I doubt there is THAT much difference.
The Silver Bell will be darker than the V30...you'll loose that signature upper mid spike in tone. And you'll also loose dbs. The SB will be 'quieter' than that loud V30.

50 watt Silverbell with a light dope, maybe my favorite speaker.
a 50 watt will be a bit darker and a 30 watt will be a bit brighter and more raunchy... Not sure I'd go with a 75 watt unless I wanted a single 12 to stay clean / headroom with the EZG.
If you have bigger amps you might use I'd go with the 50 watt, but I also have one 30 watt ceramic silver in a cab I have actually used as a 1x12 with a Maz Sr and EZG and works FINE... The Webers tend to be a bit over built and can take a bit more watts than rated without a problem.
Bottom line either a 30 watt or a 50 watt will be fine depending on what you're looking for...
the 30 watt will be noticeably a bit more aggressive than the 50 watt..
the 50 watt will be just slightly darker than the 30 watt (but not dark in a bad way)and noticeably a bit smoother than the 30 watt.
I find the Silver still keeps a bit of the mids I like in a speaker with good low end (both better for me than a Blue dog) and they are a bit less efficient so the perceived volume will be a bit less than the celestion.
They do need to break in and after wards are VERY sweet...
So For the Maz I might tend to go with the Ceramic 30 watt Silver light dope (and maybe the 50 watter for the difference described above if desired)...
and with the Alnico silver I'd go with a 50 watt light dope all day long and twice on Sunday's.
I tend to like the Light dope over the heavier/vintage style dopes... as to me the light dope keeps the silver speaker lively, open and less dull sounding... webers silvers with light dope can handle the watts.
I LOVE the Silvers with the Maz amps and I play blues with a Tele / or strat primarily... sorry so long and YMMV

well, what im looking to lose is that mid spike that the vintage 30 delivers. I love lots of clean headroom and use pedals for dirt. I do have a 2x12 cabinet with a weber silver bell and a weber blue dog both 30 watt that I use with the maz jr and ezg now, which is awesome to my ears. The 1x12 will mostly be used with just the maz jr and I don't want a lot of break up, so from what im reading Im assuming the weber silver in 50 watt with light dope would do the trick? I play blues/rock and strats only but will be getting a telecaster soon as well

Yep I believe the 50 watt would be perfect for what you're looking out of the Maz Jr or even the Maz Sr/ EZG...
however, if just used with the Maz Jr and you like the sound the 30 watters are giving you in the 2x12... then I even think a 30 watt would work for what you're wanting with the Maz Jr... but 50 watt Silver definitely.

I had a 50 watt ceramic SB light dope in my Maz 18 NR combo for years. Loved it. Only put the original Cele Blue back in it when I was getting ready to sell it. The SB is a great speaker with the Maz. I can't comment on the 30 watt or 75 watt versions as I only had the 50 watter.

I think 50W was a great choice. I have a 30W and it definitely breaks up early. If you are looking for more headroom I think going up in wattage should help. Enjoy, it's a great speaker.

I had a 30wt Silver Bell in a 1x12 Mesa cab that sounded amazing with the amps I threw at it: Mesa TA-15, Maz Jr, Winfield Cyclone, Hayseed 30... I did eventually send it in and get it re-coned to a Blue, so it's now a Weber Alnico Blue Dog in a silver frame. I just like the Blue better, but I did lose some low end and gained some speaker breakup.

HOLY SWEET JESUS I HAVE TONE!!! I swapped out my vintage 30 for the weber silver bell 50 watt light dope, and the tone is out of this world! My GOD, the cleans are so crystal clear and creamy and everything is tight, Ive just sat for an hour playing with nothing but clean just because its pure bliss. I highly suggest a weber silver bell in your 1x12 with a maz jr. incredible to say the least. I don't want to stop playing.

Howdy,
I'm too lazy to put my Weber AlniCo silver bell (30 watts) back into my Z 1x12 cab to replace the Celestion blue I've currently got in there. Both are fantastic, but the Silver Bell seems to compliment the Ghia better, especially for British Invasion clean, chimey tones. The enhanced bottom end is extra gravy, also. The Celestion blue offers better raunch and more complex tone, but the Silver Bell is the slightly more versatile speaker.
