Hi Myles:
My new-to-me Ghia arrived yesterday and is just great! The tubes appear to be non-stock. Can you shed any light on this?
12AX7 that just says 12AX7 Russia 2 on it JAN 5751 2x GT EL84 with gold not red writing 5Y3 GT with a "performance matched" sticker on the base
Is this a custom set that someone had put together?
Any suggestions on the V1 & V2? I have a NOS Brimar 12AX7 and Mullard CV4004 that I'm interested to try.
Thanks in advance! Martyn

If you can email me a .jpg of the tube (12AX7) I can probably tell you what it is. Same for the EL84 tubes.
Try the Brimar and 4004 in V1 ... it is a matter of personal taste .... you may love them. I like long plates in mine such as a Telefunken (and I only seem to like Telefunkens in a Ghia for some reason ... they are too bright in other amps for my taste). The Ei 7025 long gray plates are also great in V1 of the Ghia but keep a spare as they can tend to go physically microphonic without warning.
