Hi all, This is my first post. I apologize for the long-winded story but this is how I got here..
I own and have been playing through vintage Marshalls and Marshall replica heads (all NMV) for a very long time. I love them but decided that it is time for a change. I had about decided on a Fender Deluxe (I like 6V6s but more than 22W) but after recalling a conversation with an engineer/producer, checking many youtube videos, and reading about as many reviews, I decided on a Dr Z, but I still didn't know enough about the different models to make an intelligent choice. Then I found my "Remedy" (pun intended).
I was considering the Antidote when I found a used, apparently pristine condition pre-mod Remedy. Being a 20/40W - 6V6 NMV amp, I decided on it and it should arrive this coming Tuesday or Wednesday. This is my first Dr Z. I've never even played through one before, but after hearing others, I have no doubt that this is exactly what I'm looking for. And the Antidote is next on my list..
I have to say that I don't recall ever seeing a used Dr Z amp that is NOT in like-new condition. It seems that people who buy Dr Z take extremely good care of them. To me, that speaks volumes.
Anyway, I'm about as giddy as a kid on Christmas Eve and very happy to be here, among an intelligent and pleasant group. I've learned a lot so far and look forward to learning much more.
Thanks, kilgore

Hi Kilgore, You have made some good choices. Remedy is a great amp. Z-talk is a class act due to the Mods & the members. Great folks here that will make you feel at home. Congrats on the Remedy. Welcome aboard.

Welcome onboard kilgore and may I congratulate you on your excellent taste is amps The Remedy is something very special indeed, and although you seem to prefer NMV amps, you might want to consider the EQ Bypass mod - that adds something else very special to this amp. BTW< that was a good observation about how well cared for DrZ amps are - it's not that we are precious about them, it's just that when you find something THAT good, you don't want to ruin it by being thoughtless. I'd never thought of this before, but true enough, every Z amp I've ever owned, was well played, and in great shape!

Thanks strat59. Considering the kind of music I play (Country Rock, Blues Rock, Southern Rock, Classic Rock), the Remedy will be perfect.

Welcome to the forum! That Remedy should sound excellent through any of your Marshall cabs or just a 1x12 cab with a strong enough speaker. I have a Creamback but there are other choices depending on your music, ear, and venue. Keep us posted on your observations and critique re the amp!

Thanks Pete. Actually, I didn't realize there was a "older/newer" version of that amp until after I bought it.
Regardless, considering the circumstances, I still would have bought it. Seemed like a pretty good deal. I've been playing NMV amps for over 40 years, so I've invested in fairly decent dirt pedals. I'm currently using a Pedaltrain board w/ Wampler Dual Fusion, Xotic AC Booster Comp, G2D Cream-tone, and Xotic EP booster for ODs/boost.
May seem like overkill, but I play humbuckers and single-coils on stage so I'm covered, and given the fact that the Remedy is so pedal-friendly, I'll just say that my wife is probably going to beat me with a stick to make me stop playing.. ;-)
That said, I have heard the difference the PPIMV and EQBP mods have made on this amp from youtube videos and they sound really tasty. If by chance, I don't get an Antidote next, I'll definitely get a new model Remedy. Both amps are real "ear grabbers".
More than likely though, I'll still keep this one stock.

The Remedy is perfect for your needs, Kilgore! You couldn't have picked a better Z. I played many gigs with a pre-mod Remedy and it was just automatic.... set it once, and play the rest of the night without a second thought. Just pure plexi-tone.
Welcome to the forum, Brother....we're mighty glad to have ya!!!!

sorry I'm replying so slowly.
"Z" Steve, pcns, heynewguy, Thankyou guys for the welcomes. It's refreshing to join a community where everyone is so friendly and like-minded.
I have an Avatar 212 Vintage w/ G12H30s, a Bluesbreaker OB 212 w/ Celestion Golds, a 1965A all original, and a newer model 1960A w/ the infamous G12T-75s (I personally do not like these speakers). I'm leaning toward the Avatar for now but we'll see. At some point, I'll get a Z 212 cab.
I have a couple of upcoming gigs next week. These gigs will be my maiden voyage with this amp. I've already had a couple of replies "You got a WHAT?" :-D
I also have a small home studio so I'll definitely be posting some clips.
Exciting times..

You can get your "old" model upgraded for something like $350 as I have read elsewhere, so no need to trade it in / up. I had mine modded after the event, and it was the best thing I've ever done to an amp - it becomes SO much more versatile, and if you don't want the MV in the circuit, just max it and you're back where you started. Easy I'm a big fan of Xotic stuff too (my current Nano has both the BB and the new SL on there - my beloved EP has had to take aback seat as the EQ Bypass on the Remedy does just about the same thing).

Welcome and congrats. You're going to love the remedy. I have an original and just can't bring myself to get the mods. I'm thinking like you, at some point I might get a newer version with the mv, but the one I have is staying the way it is.

Welcome aboard, kilgore. Congrats on the Remedy, a really fine amp. Be warned: you will end up buying more Z amps as they are addictive. Oh, you already figured that out as you have your sights on the Antidote.

Welcome to the forum....and let me whack you with my two cents: You've got: 1) 2x12 w/ G12h30 2) 2x12 w/ Golds 3) 4x12 w/ G12T-75 The only one of those that's going to sound good with the Remedy is the Golds. I've tried the Remedy with the G12H30....and I thought it was just horrible. Never tried a G12t-75. (Aren't those the scooped speakers for heavy metal?) If you play "Country Rock, Blues Rock, Southern Rock, Classic Rock"....do yourself a favor and get a pair of greenbacks in your 2x12 Avatar. The golds will sound fine, but they'll be LOUD. (Golds are very loud speakers.) Greenbacks are the perfect match for the Remedy...or greenback clones from Weber or WGS. I have a WGS greenback clone, it's great. The new Creamback "M" is also a big hit. (I have one) It's a high powered greenback.

Hello Kilgore, I just got here as well, but welcome- these guys are great, but they feed the monkey . My new Remedy should also arrive on Tuesday also and the wait, though not that long, is tough. I keep on looking here as if it will distract me. Hey great choice - hope you dig your new baby.

Welcome! I guessing you will love the Remedy. I think its one of Docs best. The Antidote is a smoking amp also but that baby is loud loud loud! (The Antidote is my next Z).
By the way, don't feel like you have to reply to all of us. Glad to have you here.
