Hi all, just wanted to say hello. I just ordered a Delta 88 from Willcutt guitars in Kentucky and it should be sitting on top of my cab next week. I'm very stoked!!

welcome to the club! hopefully you have a situation where you get to open it up, because as myles said, "it's gonna be loud". Be sure to let us know what you think once you get it.

Loud is no problem! My other amp is a Hiwatt Custom 100 I will be able to open her up too... can't wait. I've played a cranked Route 66 and loved it and from what I've read here the 88 will be similar and kinda Hiwatt-y.

Its a really great amp. Ive heard one cranked up (fjam82 on the forum owned it) through a Z best and it was really fantastic. Loud, clear, not overly bright or harsh and a surprising amount of crunch for a Z amp.

The delta is a monster! Hard to let go of an animal like that, but playing in the basement with the delta makes the house shake! We live in a split level home, so the basement is not isolated, which makes it tough for the girlfriend to even talk on the phone upstairs..lol...
I brought it over to my parents place which has a very well insulated basement and it's a lot better. When we move into a bigger place I want to sound proof the basement so I can bring the delta back into the picture!
Anybody know how much it would cost (materials only) to sound-proof a room that's about 20 by 10 feet?

Got my dirty little mitts on the 88 last night. Took it to my rehearsal space and played for a grand total of 60 seconds (had the GF with me and it was dinner time). So far so good, sounded great! Can't wait to A/B it with the Hiwatt to get a volume comparison, but so far I think it'll be loud enough for my needs. Got band practice on thursday, can't wait to give the 88 a proper test run.
I'm no expert re sound proofing but my understanding is that if you want to really soundproof a room you have to build another room inside it (raised floor, lowered ceiling, 4 new walls and 2 doors) and then fill the space between with a sound insulating material (insulation, cork, lead, peavy amps). That's the hardcore way at least...

Well, had practice tonight and gave the 88 a good workout. Definitely will be loud enough and it sounded great! I really had to monkey around a lot with my many overdrive pedals till I found a distortion tone I liked. My usual go-to's just didn't sound quite right. I normally use a Buddha Fatman bass tube pedal for my main overdriven sound (I like the bass one better than the guitar ones) and a revolving door of other overdrive pedals for over-the-top screeching feedback insanity. The 88 just didn't seem to like the Buddha very much. After much swapping I finally ended up with a very strange setup. I ran my Ricky 330 into the 'clean' channel of a Seymour Duncan Twin tube (to warm up the single coils a bit) then into a Fodera bass preamp (SS) and then into the 88. My bass player and I decided to try the Fodera just for the hell of it and it shocked us both by sounding way better than any of my other pdeals (which are legion). There's something very unique about this amp.

glad you're finding some sounds you like olrs. i don't know what tones you're looking for but for classic crunch i've had great luck with both the zvex box of rock and an ocd. also curious about how it compares to your hiwatt, i've always wanted to play one of those. randy

The Delta is a very cool amp...very aggressive with an OD in front. Good luck with it and have fun! To sound proof you need to check out quiet rock www.soundivide.com/index.html
