I've just ordered some tubes(preamp)from mike at kca and I;m going to do some swapping on my mazerati my Question is can I leave the amp on and just put it to standby when changing v1 and v2?this way I could get a quicker and better idea of the effects of each change keeping the power tubes warm ,I just want to make sure I wont damage anything or put stress on the rec or el84s .I well post a detailed discription when I get the tubes which are BRIMAR nos 12ax7-balanced - RCA nos blackplate 5751-GE nos5751 balanced-and a SOVTEK lps12ax7 ,

Even with the volume down you may still get a loud pop in the output so standby is safer if you do not want to risk blowing a speaker with the associated spike.
