Greetings,
I have heard here and on other boards that NOS tubes like a GEC EF86 can last up to ten times longer than the new tubes do. My question is how long is this? Should I expect 5 to 10 years or what? Also, what king of life expectancy should I expect from a NOS GZ34?

Paul Paul I have seen Mullard GZ34's and original EF86's in Vox AC-15 amps from the early sixties that still work great.

Myles,
Wow. That is truly impressive. Thanks for the update. I bought a second GEC (just in case). Better safe than sorry. Thanks again.

What about GEC (British)KT66 power tubes? I have read (I think on Miles's site) that the old GEC's were rated for 10 000hrs. I've had mine for over a year and I'm hoping for a lot more use out of them. I had Dave Ulbrick install them and bias my amp for me. He just stared at them with his little head magnifying glass for ages going "mmm, they don't make 'em like that anymore!".
