Haha I wish!!
The amp is at least as loud as other 30 watt tube amps - at home I either keep the volume down to a quarter and play clean or boost it with a 808-style OD pedal!
I'm so glad I didn't go for a Route 66, the z28 is already a beast!!!!

But the cleans are LOVELY in the z28 and very nice for playing old blues tunes (magic Sam, BB king, muddy waters, etc) especially when paired with a good reverb pedal.
I can say for sure that if you are looking for that fender tweed/marshall mix vintage tone in a contemporary package look no further as this really is the top of the line amp as far as that kind of tone goes, although ymmv as some people may prefer the maz or the ghia.

Howdy,
I can only say that my Carmen Ghia is more toneful and touch-sensitive than the clean '71 Deluxe I had from 2000 to 2006. I would imagine that a Z-28 with a matching Dr.Z 1x12 cab loaded with an AlNico speaker would sound better than the over-rated Deluxe as well.

The Deluxe RI is more of a clean machine, scooped mids, holds together nicely, The Z28 is warmer, breaks up in a more useable kind of way. I haven't touched my DRRI. Since I got my Z28
