How does the volume of a MAZ 8 compare to a MAZ 18. I occasionally have to use a Brakelite with my MAZ 18 so can you tell me if the "8" is equal to the "18" through the BL on 1 click or 2.

I'd say about half. I run my 8 in a large church sanctuary with the V and MV at noon. I take it to small room jams and run the V at 5 and MV at noon. It keeps up just fine. When I take my 18, I run it V at 5 and MV noon with the BL at 3 or 2.

I can tell you that a Maz 8 (1-12 combo) gets lost (stage volume) in a live band club gig setting...unless you are running it into a monitor for you to hear. I actually sold my Maz 8 because if that. The Maz 8 also has less clean headroom available than the Maz 18. So my advice would be use your 18 with the Brakelite on 1 or 2. To answer your specific question...I'd say closer to 3/4 of the perceived volume can be achieved...but you start losing clean headroom once you turn it up. Depends on what you want to use it for.

The Maz 8, while sharing the same tone stack, is a different amp than the MAZ 18.
I would agree with the 'less than half' volume assessment.
MAZ 8 may not have the headroom but you can access a wider assortment of sounds between the pentode / triode switch, the tone stack bypass and the fact that it has a single ended power section (which really is a different animal)
After using mine for quite some time I'd say that it's generally not as scratchy as the MAZ 18 can sometimes be. It's much easier to get to the power tube grind/distortion. Sounds great with a variety of speakers and cabs in the studio. Works fine for lower volume singer/songwriter live gigs but that's been the limit for me.
It's also a very excellent 2nd amp in a 2 amp (both on) rig. Works tremendous in this situation as the dirtier of the 2 amps. Soundmen like it.

Like highend audio the low "fleawatt" tube amps need super highly efficient speakers to get optimum or adequate volume.
I would think a efficient speaker closed back cab would definatly max the maz 8's wattage potential....?
And yes I wouldnt mind one for exactly what erics designating it for...perfect.

Another question. I used to have a MAZ 38 Rev and I wasn't a big fan of it's reverb. When I traded it for a MAZ 18 I got the NR version which I like better. So how do you all like the reverb in the 8.

The reverb is better than the Maz 18 I had, but it is not lush like my Z-Verb.
