I believe my V1 has gone microphonic (did thw whole yanking the tube to make sure the hum went away/tapped with pencil) so I've decided to invest in a new ef86 tube. I ended up going with the Tung-sol ef806-S, as it seemed to be reasonably priced and had pretty good reviews among both the forums and the internet.
I guess my question is how long should I expect it to last and how much of a change in tone should I expect from and electro harmonix tube? I expect it to be quite drastic, seeing as how electro harmonix doesn't get much praise around here.
Hopefully I'm not the only one whose put Tung=Sol's in the V1 haha

Also, could I use either an ECC81 or ECC83 in the V2 position? I know there equivelents are 12at7's and 12ax7's respectively, but I jsut want to be 100%.

The change you will perceive is quite relative from one person to another. Your best bet would be to try it and see how it sounds.
As for the phase inverter, I tried an 12at7 and there was a little less edge that translated to way more compression. The sound was much smoother and less punch which is not a bad thing if that's what you're looking for.
Best of luck!
