Can one use 6p14p tubes instead of the 6n14n power tubes in the z wreck?
i know doc clarified that he uses Russian military 6n14n tubes in the z wreck when most of us thought is was 7189 type tubes. possible substitute?

I'm not sure about the 6p14p, as I have never seen any spec's on it. Do you have a link to the spec sheet, ( in English would be nice )? Who is selling these?
I know the Tube Store sells the Extended Life ones as well as the Extra rugged ones, these are drop in replacement for the standard 6n14n.

I don't have the spec sheet. The reason I was asking was because I typed in 6n14n into Google and eBay to see what would come up and the 6p14p came up and is relatively cheap to purchase. At about 16$ per tube it didn't sound like it would be right.

6П14П / 6P14P; bog standard version, large thick glass = EL84, 6BQ5 6П14П-EB / 6P14P-EV; hardened version, longer lifetime = EL84M, 7189 6П14П-EP / 6P14P-ER; special quality, longer lifetime = E84L, 7320 (quite rare) 6П14П-K / 6P14P-K; hardened version, vibration resistant = EL84F (very rare)

I think the 6p14p is an el84 and would work. The 7189 is a millitary grade or extended life el84 and the current production tube is a sovtek el84M. There are super high grade, long life el84's but those are rare and not needed for what we need in an amp. I use the sovtek el84m on my RXES because the plate voltages are a lot higher and this tube can handle it. I think the rxes has 350v and a normal ac30 el84 type amp is around 300. The el84M or 7189 can handle up to 400v. The z wreck doesnt need military grade tubes but it does add to the sound of the amp. Here is a great thread on tubes from this forum ztalk.proboards.com/thread/30034/maz-18-jr
