I just bought a used z verb off of eBay. Got it all hooked up and there is very little if any reverb effect. I tried changing the 12ax7 and there was no change. I was gonna replace the other preamp tube but I only had a 12AU7 sand didn't know if it could be swapped with the 12at7. Any suggestions??

There are only three tubes and none of them are expensive to replace (solid state rectifier). I'd replace all three and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, then you can swap the originals back in one at a time to find the bad one and you have a couple of spares on hand. My 2 cents. Good luck, the Z-verb is a great unit.
PS: Don't forget to check the reverb tank cable connections. They can come loose during shipping.

Tried replacing all of the tubes and still nothing. Checked all of my cables, checked RCA plugs, still nothing. Any other suggestions? I'm leaning towards maybe bad reverb tub. The guy I bought it from said it worked fine before shipping it to me.

Those reverb tanks are delicate, it's possible.
