If they are that good, then why did he discontinue them? When we lost Kurt (a.k.a. Wolfgang), Doc's head tech and right hand man in April '06, Doc had some hard decisions to make. He decided to either permanently or temporarily discontinue the Delta, KT45, 6545, Mini Z, and Mazerati to concentrate on his most popular amps and get his new techs up to speed. Since then the KT, SRZ, and Mini have returned to the lineup. I don't believe the Delta was ever intended to be made in large quantities. I think a lot of people were scared off by the "88 watts" and it's "loud" reputation. The truth is that it sounds very good at low volume levels. One thing that might hinder the Doc from making the 88 again is tube cost/availability. It was originally designed using the GT KT88SV, which is almost impossible to find now and before GT was sold the cost has went way up.

Most people buying this type of amp (handwired, boutique) are not looking for an 88 watt amp. I agree that this amp sounds very good at just above zero on the volume dial, but I can't imagaine there's much of a market for it.
Having said that, I would absolutely love to hear and play through a 100 watt Carmen Ghia!

Most players are frightened by the 88 watts & actually it puts out more than 100 watts......but hey Two Rock are selling lots of the 100 watt Custom Reverbs or whatever they call them now? All I know is I love my 88 and it is not going anywhere!

I was just getting a feel for the different Zs and that was the one that knocked me out the most. Sounds great from the get-go. I think it's the perfect gig amp because you're always going to be able to turn up if you need it, and you're going to sound great playing whisper quiet or cranked.
