Do you guys go with British speakers or does anyone recommend American flavor? What sort of "flavor" of speaker is generally standard for the route?

I play my 66 through a Mesa open back widebody cabinet with a 12" Celestion C90 in it.
My understanding is that the C90 is basically a Celestion Classic Lead speaker goosed up to handle 90 watts.
It sounds good to me, although I'm looking into having a 2x10 cab built by either Avatar or JDesigns and might put a couple of the WGS American Vintage series G10C/S speakers in it to use with my Rati v2 and try with the 66.

Thanks for the reply. After doing a bit more research, it does seem that British is the go to flavor. I'm running a 2x12 mix of Celestion G1265 and Scumback M75. I got to thinking about this when I picked up a WGS G12A and G12C for an Allen Accomplice build I just finished. When I ran the pair at home, I thought the brighter speakers sounded pretty good. No chance to try it out live though.

I liked the Eminence Private Jack and the Celestion Heritage (55 and 75Hz) in my Route. The Celestion G12-65 was not as enjoyable with the Route. A V30 was not a good match with my Route 66. The Route does work with a V30 when it is matched with G12H30 in a 2X12.

I went from a (bland) EV to a wonderful celestial gold and then finally to an Altec 417. I think bright but not harsh alnico's work great with the 66.
