Tyler, Shannon has one, so feel free to PM him or even Call him and ask him ANY questions about it... he won't mind. I can tell you this, It's one Z that I wanted to try out for YEARS and never had the chance to play until Shannon got his at the end of last year... and of ALL the Z's I've had and played I was probably more suprised with the Delta at how it sounded and felt, more than any other Z I've tried... I guess I really didn't know what to expect, Really wasn't expecting it to be what it was... I was VERY pleasantly suprised... great feel, thick and BOLD, yet STILL articulate. Almost as thick as the RT 66 but not as much clean headroom as the 66... it gets hairy quickly like the Maz GT does and just thicker and a little louder as you go up... Lots of Drive as you turn it up and very Nice FEEL to it... extremely fun to play, like the Rt 66 and the Ghia are and how nice it FEELS when you play it. I just don't think there were that many of them ever made, so it'll be harder to find one to try out. But if you ever do I think just about anyone would like that amp... would be a great one ( like a Maz GT) to pair with a cleaner amp ( Stingray) for a two amp clean/ drive thang... It would be hard for me to decide which I liked better between the Rt 66 and the Delta... two very great Big, bold sounding amps... they are just a little different, one more drive and early on... the other more headroom and later drive. .02 Jason

I just got one about three weeks ago from Ebay. I asked Brent how many were made and he said somewhere between 50-75, but he wasn't sure. I'm still learning about the 88 or I would have posted a review by now. I will say this- I was expecting something more like the Z-28 or KT45, just bigger and louder... but Jason's right, it's more like a huge dirtier Route 66 with a solid state rectifier. The volume control is very linear, unlike most tubes amps seem like they are at max volume at 9:00-10:00. More to come... p.s. feel free to ask me any questions too

I had one all lined up and then, as fate would have it, my laptop died and I had to give the money to Apple instead. I've never played an amp like it, and never wanted anything nearly as much. :-)

And what these folks did not know is that it comes with a lot of hand picked phase inverters to make it do lot-o-stuff that most of the other ones don't do (unless they are one of my clients) including use it as a bass amp. Happy playing. Myles

Rich...that's a long drive from NY to CA to pick that amp up. ;D As it turned out - I have a buddy from H.S. that is temporarily living about an hour south of Myles. He's leaving there on Monday and moving to San Fran. On his way up, he agreed to swing by Myles' house to pick up the amp. I shipped an empty box loaded with packing material, an address label, packing tape, and directions to the nearest FedEx out to Myles on Sat. All he has to do is put in the box, tape it up and drop it off. Timing is everything in life - and this just happened to work out for me. ;D

Rich, you're gonna love that amp. I've got it's close relative (S/N 9) and it just rocks.
Good luck!

I saw the Iron Man playing 88s last year. It hurt so good. But that ringing is mother nature trying to tell you something important. I understand he is playing SRZs now instead of 88s.

Sorry for the delay! The amp is amazing. I was worried it wouldn't sound good at low volumes, but it does. Last weekend I took it up to Analog Mikes shop and we put it thru a Marshall stack and turned it up to 10. It sounded even better! ;D ;D Great amp, and am really happy I was able to pick it up.

Rich....
A few things to point out ....
A Delta 88 does not really sound better at max levels, it is just that sometimes louder is perceived as sounding better.
One magic aspect of the Delta 88 is that of all the Z amps and most any other amp it does not really have a "sweet spot". If it does have one it is very very wide. The amp sounds balls out agressive rock-master from the lowest levels. Marshall amps can't do that and I can think of no amp that does it as well as the 88.
What that allows you to do is ditch those ho hum cheap dynamic mics such as an SM57 that can handle high levels but sound mediocre and use a large diaphram sensitive vocal mic that would be blown out and ruined by a 100 watt Marshall running at it's sweet spot. You can turn the 88 down to 8:00 on the volume and with a good mic it will sound like a wall of Marshalls! Try it in a studio ... you will generate a lot of converts!
Anyway ... happy playing and if you ever need anything you have my name and number. If you don't get me at the number you have somebody will give you my cell. Yes ... I broke down and got a cell phone again and will be living back on a boat mid next week.
Myles
