I know this has been covered before but I am hoping we can take a different spin on it. What drives are you loving with the M12 and more importantly what type of tone are you going for and getting from them. I often find people recommend drive pedals by saying them love them but we don't ask often enough if we are trying to get the same tone. So far I have tried - Honey Bee (clone), Boiling Point (Clone), Catalinbread 5F6 (bassman), Catalinbread DLS MKIII, SolidGoldFX Super Drive, Arc Effects Big Green Pi, Mad Professor Sweet Honey OD, and an Acid Age Acid Pig (rat). I am keeping the Arc Big Green Pi and the Sweet Honey. The SHOD is giving me my perfect crunchy rhythm tone. Basically I want a just passed break up tone that is dynamic and can get heavy if I really dig in and the SHOD is prefect for me. It remains clear without getting harsh in the high end. Basically looking for a tone similar to Gaslight Anthem. Basic rock rhythm tone. Here is an example. The Arc is awesome at getting saturated but clear tones that can cut through the mix. We have a song that I need to have some heavy fuzz at a low volume and this fits the bill perfectly. Here is the song I am talking about. SOLDIER ON - For The BestYou can hear the fuzz from about 2:00 on. It was recorded with multiple guitars just playing one note each so getting this sound live is not really possible. But the Arc gets close enough for rock and roll. I am still looking for a lead tone pedal that will stack with the SHOD. Also I should mention that the M12 is the best clean tone I have ever had. I just love this amp. I am playing a Thinline tele with Bardens in the M12 head into a 1x12 with a G12H30 anniversary. I have a celestion gold on the way and another 1x12. I am going to have a pretty cool mini stack going when the other 1x12 gets here. So what are you guys digging pedal wise and why.

So far I have used: Green Rhino 1987 Rat SUF Rams Head DLS Mk3 Fuzz Face FFM1 Honey Bee clone
I honestly liked all of them with it. The Green Rhino I like but I want to try a Timmy in that spot or maybe a Screamer V2 or Little Green Wonder.
I currently use the Rhino -> Rat -> SUF -> DLS Mk3
I had to sell the Honey bee and FFM1 just needed the cash more than the pedals.
I use the amp for P&W music and if I am not playing that I play anything from Country to Classic Rock to Pearl Jam type stuff, no death metal but I do turn all 4 pedals on sometimes and kick out some nasty power chords.

Like to try the AC as well. Ive tried many dirt pedals with the M12 and liked them all. Each pedal sounds what its supposed to sound like, unlike some other amps i own/tried. Its great to have an amp like the M12. Wish it had to come out years ago. Save time and money over the years!!

Thanks for all the great responses! Once I am able to move the Super Drive and Acid Pig I am going to be searching for a pedal that will give me a Lead Tone I'm looking for. I'll be stacking it with the sweet honey. The solo in this tune is sorta what I'm going for. I love how wild and unrefined it is. Solo starts around 2:55 soundcloud.com/jimdesanto/never-againThis was a Lunar Module into a Fender Rivera Era Concert. I'm wondering if I just need to get the lunar module and see how it is with the M12.

I love the Timmy with the M12... but to be fair, I've loved that pedal with pretty much every amp I've run it into. The PTD Mini Bone also sounds amazing with it. (Which makes me believe that the Lunar Module would as well.)
Wasn't a huge fan of the Xotic SL Drive with it though... too compressed. And I bought a cheap TS to try with it and didn't love that either -- but I don't generally care for Tubescreamers anyway.
At the moment I'm thinking about trying out a King of Tone if I can get my hands on one for a reasonable price... also planing to try the new Zvex Fuzzolo when that comes out.

Lunar module is amazing! OD to pure fuzz. Definitely nails the DSOTM tones it was designed for...
Also love the Blue Note stacked witha draconis!

I have a video from this am but it is P&W. I am using a Green Rhino -> Cbred DLS Mk3 -> Boss DD3 (why I mentioned video here) I do not want to offend anyone, I understand the rules. Should I just tell people to message me for a link?

Just got a Lumpys Lemon Drop... wow! Awesome for heavy riffing. DOes Killer Led Zepplin II tones. Jimmy Page in a box.
So I'm using the SHOD for just past break up. The Lemon Drop for heavier rhythm. And the BGP for leads.

I have been a Timmy loyalist for quite some time, but I notice a very slight almost ratty buzz when running it through my M12 which drives me bonkers. It only does it through my M12 (not my Z28 or Ghia). It is a shame because the Timmy is such an interactive well rounded OD.
My Fulldrive 2 MOSFET sounds pretty darn good for a bluesy drive on the clean boost setting withy the OD cranked.
I have been eyeing a King of Tone for a while as well... Would be interested if anyone has tried this through an M12

The one I really want to try with the M12 is the Blackstone appliances Mosfet. I just ordered a custom Lemon Drop from Lumpys Tone Shop. Basically a Lemon drop with a pre clipping bass control and a post clipping treble. I really love the Lemon Drop but I think the extra EQ options are going to make a huge difference for me. Right now my board is Lemon Drop -> Sweet Honey -> Blunderbuss -> Big Green Pi -> El Cap -> Pitchblack... I am really loving the in your face tone of the Lemon drop so I might end up running two. One just on the crunchy side and one heavier and then I'll try to sell the Sweet Honey. It is a great pedal but I just love the wild fuzzyness of the Lemon Drop.

I love my Timmy with my M12. I actually really like my OCD as well and use my Sally Drive (808 clone) along with the OCD for a nice heavy sound. I also find that using my RC Booster as an "always on" pedal early in my signal chain really adds some sparkle and punch to the M12 without any noticeable gain.
When I switched from a Maz18 to the M12, I ended up changing out most of my drive pedals. I really like my setup now. The Timmy really shines with this amp.

Do you think the Catalinbread DLS Mk3 may be too close to an animal to have both?

HBOD remains my favorite drive pedal with the M12.
Seconds beneath it are the Arc Klone v2 and Model G.
The Mesa Flux Drive was great too.

I use an early model Jetter GSR on the bridge HB set up for a higher gain lead tone, an early Xotic BB for medium gain SC lead tones and a late model BB for crunch rhythm tones. The early and late model BBs sound pretty different to my ears, with the early model units sounding better for single note work due to fatter lower mids and smoother overtones while the late model units sound better for crunchy chords because they are leaner and more clear in the low mids and also sound a touch sterile when playing single note lines.
I also have three GSRs and each one sounds different. Amazing how pedals vary, even amongst same make and model withong the same shipment!!!

Still loving the Lemon Drop. I am looking to sell a few things to pickup a Red Llama or a Screwdriver.

I've really settled into two Barbers: Half Gainer and Direct Drive. Those two can cover a lot of ground. For fuzz I'm using a Mojo Hand Colossus and I recently picked up an EQD Sound Shank... #71 of 200. I can do plenty with those four... but I also picked up an XTS Atomic. I still haven't put that in front of the M12, but I think it should do nicely.
