I hope you also have it properly biased for the new tubes. It makes a world of difference in tone and performance. So do good tubes.
Good luck.
Let us know how it turned out.

Come on ya'll, it's was my go to amp in sessions and lot's of tour's for 13 yr's. Taste's do change and so do ones needs. Mike Is a good friend was nice enough to load me up with GT 66-HP's that aren't available anymore, when I visited the shop in early 2000's and playing with Del McClinton, those tubes lasted me a looong time! So I don't really know what's what in KT-66's other then I read NOT to use Tungsol's here in the forum.
Maybe "dump" was not the right word, I got my very early Maz 18 NR head (stu don't surf fat sound exclusive) stolen in Canada Last winter, on a Sass Jordan tour and I had to sell my Z-28 to help pay funeral costs when my Daughter died in February. I have been doing more sideman work for Hard Rock/outlaw country artists and need a bit more krang, volume, a master, loop, etc. (If it's any consolation, a Remedy Mk II is on my short list) I also entered into an artist relationship with Jimmy Somma, and really love my OD35. I still would love to have a KT-45. So those that know me (or don't) know I love Z amps! VG
ps, I know how to bias, as does my tech, and your right, makes a big difference!

The two places I gave links to are great to work with. I really like the reissue Gold Lions. Shuguangs will be cheaper than the gold lions. Some folks even like them better. Mike or Doug will also have preamp tubes if you need them.
Sorry if I was a bit terse earlier. I misunderstood your original comments. I understand how needs can change. If you need more info just ask.

Hi VooDooGreg, Perhaps I jumped on you too hard as well... I saw that you wanted to "dump" your amp and your question about why everyone is "gaga" over interstate Route 66s caught my eye. That combined with your low post count had me suspicious as to your intentions. Some guys get on here to troll, talk smack about Dr. Z, or sell their Z and ride off into the sunset. Those folks don't add to the community, IMO. I guard this community we have pretty carefully. jw
