Every once in a while I like to noodle around doing some music with a quiet and mellow jazz tones. Frankly I may be doing more of this being without a band or the time to give to one. I actually began to think about a separate amp for the project and then a thought came into my mind to try something different with the amp I already love. So here's an unlikely orbit hidden in the Galaxie channel 2. Yes channel 2 that aforementioned untamable, fire breathing, crunching, part of this amp is actually perfect for some mellow stuff. Per your guitar use the the presence and triode/pentode switch for adjusting your dynamic response (I use triode and presence at 10 o'clock with a telecaster front pickup e.g). Put the treble at 9 and bass at noon. VOL is touchy as you ALL know but JUST on works for this. The result is much better than using your guitar tone control or almost any setting on a typical amp. It is quiet, the bass is controlled, midrange rounded, and all the strings on the instrument have good spacing and even response with the unwound strings sounding as thick as a classical guitar. I play with no verb but I'm sure it would sound real cool with some Z-verb in there too. Enjoy!

Been a while since I last fired-up the Galaxie .... but I dig what you are saying. Played out a coupla years ago with Galaxie 112 combo(non-master vol) and was using a Heritage H150 (LP style guitar) straight-in most of the night ..... until I realized that I was on Channel 2 and not my usual Channel 1. Definitely plenty of possibilities with a Galaxie, your favorite guitar and a good cable to hook-em up. As for using a Z-verb? Aint never tried, but would be curious to see/hear cheers always, Joel

Yeah Joel it seems to me I have done that more than once as well. Using Ch/2 evens out the amplitude of each string and has a nice separated rounded lower midrange. If I were to use reverb which I did for many years with all manner of Fender amps, I would use a Z verb. Thing is, I found either dry, or very slight quick repeat from my Chandler echo/delay seems to do the trick for me. Lately it has been dry 'cause the chimey effect of good guitars into a good amp like this sounds like all sorts of space!

Played a Halloween party 10/26/2013.
Took Galaxie #3 + Weber Blue Dog/Silver Bell 2x12 (Tanks Paulie!!!). PRIMO parts Strat(50th "anny" body/Fralin SP43s/custom wiring w/blender pot/USCGW birdseye maple neck... WHOLE damn trip).....
'03 R8 LP, scored from OMS.... Babies, I was Hot, Blue, & Righteous..... ANYway, that Galaxie + 2x12 AlNiCo Webers DEE-fkn-LIVered. I got 'em in this little tweed open back Carvin cab. The one that goes w/the "Nomad". I put a piece of high-density foam in the back to act as a baffle for outdoor gigs. NO board.... DrZ footswitch for channel 2......PERfect!!
Point................... The Galaxie is one smokin' 6L6 vintage masheen.

Point................... The Galaxie is one smokin' 6L6 vintage masheen. ^^^^^Truth!! 'T' knows!! Like Joel, I haven't fired up my Gal' for a while (only been playing acoustic gigs/sessions recently ).......I NEED to rectify that ASAP. Ch 2 with the MV Mod is...........dangerous! IMO the Galaxie is underrated/misunderstood. Everybody should have one in their arsenal.
