Hey everybody. I just picked up a RX/ES 2x12 Combo today. I absolutely love the amp. I was just wondering if there were some good recommendations for getting the amp to stay as clean as possible at high volumes. Speakers? Tubes? Etc. This amp has the best clean tone I've ever heard, and paired with my Maz Sr (set up Dirty) I now have an awesome palette of tones to choose from. Thanks

What speakers you running it thru right now? Celestion Gold is a favorite around here as well as a G12H30...those 2 together would be a great combo if you're doing a 2/12 setup. One mans clean is another mans dirty...that being said, I ran an Rxes pretty dang loud and it stayed pretty clean to me...clean w some hair on it kinda sound...it was really nice. 5751's in the preamp/PI could also yield more clean tone.

The rxes stays clean with some of the ef86 hair on it. I would use the low inout. If you are using humbuckers then keeping it clean isnt going to work. I use a zwreck cab with a gold and an H30 in it. I had to swap the blue out bc the amp is 45 watts.

Don't know if anybody is still following this thread, but I have the RxES head with master volume and run it through two Avatar 1x12 cabs, one with a Celestion Gold, the other with a Hellatone 30 (aged G12H30). Even with humbuckers I can get fantastic cleans way up into room rattling volumes by putting the pre-amp volume at about 4 or 5 and cranking up the master volume on the back. But I think pickups will also have an effect on the 'clean' that you hope to get. When I use guitars with top drawer pickups I get the best results. My LPs and 335 with WCR Crossroads pickups sounds heavenly, as does my Eric Johnson Strat with his signature pickups. The RxES is my go-to amp. It's a terrific design.

^^^ Hi, Daniel. Nice to have you back. How were your travels? Hi Mike, Sorry to be tardy - I drop in for a short visit, then get terribly busy and don't drop by for a looooong time! My recent travels were great! 5 months going around the world again, then an extended stay in Europe and back home in NYC. The first half of the year was terrific; the second half has been boring by comparison.
