So I had the good fortune of getting a great deal on a M12 head recently. I had been hunting for a good deal on a M12 combo for some time, but just couldn't pass up the deal on the head. Problem is that I need a grab-n-go amp to compliment my Z28 head and 4 x 10 cab, which is less than convenient to move. Long story short, I was thrilled when I stumbled across an empty small chassis 2 x 10 combo cab off the BST (thanks Simpleton!). Happy ending, right?
A perfect and dangerous storm of thinking, googling, and sipping of scotch took place... While the Docs's website states that he offers the M12 in a 2 x 10 combo setup, no one seems to offer it. Not even Humbucker Music (!). A couple forum members have recommended a Weber Blue and Silver pup 2x10 setup for the M12, but I can't help but be concerned. So... is the 2x10 combo setup a mistake for a M12?

I run my 110 m12 into a 210 dr z cab running at 4ohms. Use a y cable to attach all the speakers, but also tried it through the cab only. Adds a lot more bottom end and sounds fuller to me as you'd expect. Gives me the option of a grab and go light 110 or a bigger setup. I'd forget the 210 combo which will be fairly heavy, and opt for this setup.

I went from a head on top of a 4x10 cab to a 2x10 combo and I love it. It still sounds really full. I found a couple of the Z Red Fangs and it has a lot of headroom, plenty of low end, and balanced mids and treble. I like the format.

Matt, I'm not sure why I wouldn't have seen your post from 9/30/2013 (hey, only 9 months late!), but to answer your question... if you or anyone else has the M12 in a 2x10 format, I'd bet that a Blue Pup/Silver Ten would sound amazing with it--especially if they're both AlNiCo.

Two of them would be even better, or paired with a blue pup like he said. Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Proboards
