My original RX gets too saggy when trying to push it with a distortion pedal. By this I mean compression iS becoming to apparent when throwing an explosive chord. Do you recommend anything for minimizing the effect? Don't get me wrong I love Sag but a little less would sound better.

OD and distortion pedals have differing amounts of compression. It all depends on what the designer wanted. When you add that compression to whatever the amp naturally has you may or may not like the combination. The only way to tell is just experiment with combinations til you find one you like. Another option is to use a pedal that has a compression control so you can dial in what works best for you. I have an Xotic AC Comp that I use for that. It has a three way switch so I can have two different levels of comp or none at all. Like most players I have several pedals because there really isn't one that sounds good with every amp.

try a clean boost (the dragon is great), or a tube screamer with the distortion all the down........the pedals mainly hit the pre-amp tubes so it may not be true rectifier sag in the power tubes. Without looking up the rectifier in your amp you may be able to go to a stiffer rectifier depending on whats in it.
