Not suggesting the quest for tone is over. Got an Antidote a few weeks ago and even the drummer likes it.

Last amp was a Route 66. A great amp, but a little raw, strident perhaps with a 2010 R8. Sounded great on our recorded practices (I do have some good pedals to push at lower volumes). The Antidote has a chime and breadth of tone in its lower volume range which is awe inspiring. With a boost (Diamond J-Drive MK3 or Boost EQ, or Keely Time Machine Boost - individually or mixed 2 or 3) the amp growls and snorts and sometimes sings - depends on my playing! I haven't figured it out at louder volumes, my need to give up the boosts. I usually play through one or two Orange PPC 1X12 cabinets with Vintage 30's but I'm trying a Traynor Dark Horse 2X12 with Greenbacks for a little output control. I have a Brake-Lite which helps me to stay focused in the mix (self controlled by us, but when you have a bass player with a SVT or two it can be hard). Love the sound, reminds me of an early '70's Marshall Lead/Bass 2X12 combo I played.
