I know there are a lot of threads but I wanted to start a new one comparing the RXES to the Wreck and AC30. I currently have an ac30 that I like and it has the blues. I just bought a used RXES and have never played one. And I have played a Wreck a few times. I actually sat the wreck next to the ac30 and compared and the wreck was bigger and bolder but the ac30 kind of held up with it. I wonder what the RXES will do?
Input?
I am thinking of selling my ac30 and getting the ac30 head so that I can get a cab with 2 golds and run all my amps through it.

I don't have any of those amps...but if you can afford to do it...I say get after it...sounds like it could be a great combination of tones there.

Well here is a ac30 vs rxes quick demo. I just got it now.
The ac30 seems jangly and big. The rxes is smooth and takes pedals better. But who knows so far.

After playing a while and comparing I have some new opinions. I have played my ac30 next to a Z wreck so I know that comparison fairly well. I now have the rxes and the ac30 so I can compare those.
What I have noticed is that speakers matter a lot. The wreck sound comes from having a blue in the cab with the gold. The gold is more hifi and clean with a bigger bottom end. The blues are more jangly and gritty. The wreck gets dirty sounding bc of that speaker combo.
I honestly think that I can get my ac30 close to the wreck. I would say 90% there with the blues and if you run it through the wreck cab it comes a little closer. The feel of the wreck is a bit different but its close to me. The RXES on the other hand is a very unforgiving amp. Thats not a bad thing but its more clean and hifi sounding and doesnt dirty up. I can see why it was a 45 watt amp for the headroom. The nice thing is that it takes pedals really well and sounds great with a les paul and teles and strats. I was SURPRISED that the rxes through my 71 marshall 4x12 sounds AMAZING with a les paul. So this amp might be a keeper bc it does so many different things. But the rxes will never be able to get close to a wreck.

Really nice demo! As I said in my note, the real comparison for the AC30 should be the Stangray.
You might also want to post this in the videos section - more people would probably view it there.
