I found an old. stereo that was made in Japan. It's probably late 50's or early 1960's. It's has a load of Mitsubitshi 12AX7s in it. Has anyone ever heard of these tubes or had experience with them?

From my experience , Mitsubishi tubes were really well made tubes in the late 60's and 70's. I'm sure Myles could speak with greater authority about them.

My only experience with Japanese tubes was with some of the Radio Shack tubes that they sold back in the '80's. I'm not sure what company actually manufactured them. They sounded OK and if I remember right they had a lifetime guarantee so they must have been robust. Things "Made In Japan" got a bad rap back in the '60's but most of it was really pretty good.

Thanks for the info. The stereo is real nice, but for some reason it quit working. I thought I'd just take the tubes out of it and use them in my amps if they are reliable.

I've used Mitsubishi 12ax7 and 5AR4 with no issues. Preamps dead quiet and long lasting. Rectifier going on five years in BFPR clone. I'd plug them in and go-will be better than new stuff for sure.

There better than anything made today! Matshusita tube factory in Japan was set up by Mullard,..... Equipment and raw materials, so I wouldn't be surprised if they actually made some of the Mitsubishi labeled tubes etc, etc.

Thanks for the info. I'll go ahead and take them out and store them for later use.
