I just put a set of these Raw Vintage Tremolo Springs on all three of my Stratocasters. I only needed three springs for each guitar. I was so impressed with how they created a fatter tone and thicker reverb I put them on all three of my guitars. They claim to give you that fat 50's and 60's Stratocaster Mojo and I tell you what they really do make a difference. If you are looking for a relatively cheap upgrade for your strat's tone check out these raw vintage springs. I paid like 16 bucks shipped from the mad ape. They made all three of my guitars sound fat warm and rich in character.

Rev Do you have you trems set up to float or are they pulled down flush to the body? I have mine the latter....wondering if these would be effective that way (?)

I got mine floating. I use the whammy bar quite a bit. They are very effective. Trust me they are worth it they will make your guitar sound much better.

One of my Strats has always sounded a bit too lightweight or trebly, not fat enough, no matter what pickups I put in it; currently Suhr Landau standards. Might try these springs, thanks!
Did you replace the claw, saddles or block, or just the springs?

Thanks for the review and heads up Rev. I'd never heard of them. I needed a couple for my new EJ strat and ordered some from Callaham. I wish you'd told us about these 2 weeks ago!..lol www.rawvintage.com/eng/item_springs.phpJust ordered a set myself..

Did you replace the claw, saddles or block, or just the springs? Just the springs . Another thing I did was I took apart the bridge and sanded the top paint off of my block. I did this on two of my strats. That is how the Eric johnson strats are . Believe it or not that also made a difference. I had a really bright strat that I tried numerous pick ups with and finally fixed it and warmed it up by doing these two easy mods and putting some Bill Lawrence noisless pick ups in it. It now sounds fat and warm and is one of my best guitars. I plan on doing the block on my CST 69 soon.

Thanks revrand, that seems like an easy and inexpensive fix which I'll definitely be trying on that guitar. It's amazing that just sanding the paint off the top of the block also makes a difference, though of course Eric Johnson has a reputation for discovering these subtleties!

I know it sounds crazy but it really opened up my guitars. My two Hendrix strats sound just as good as my custom shop strat. Just by sanding that block and putting on those springs.

I just found out today that my Fender Custom Shop 69 Strat has no paint at all on the block. Now I know why my other guitars sound just as good as it does. So I guess Fender is aware of the subtle warmth and extra sustain you can get out of your guitar with a clean block. I don''t know why they dont just do it on all their guitars.

Just had to resurrect this thread as knew I remembered something about these on the forum. I was at the point of blocking off the trem on my new custom shop strat ,as I have on my JV,as three and four springs too loose for me and five stiff but seemed to stifle the guitar so ordered a set. Well as per the original post they really do make a difference. I have installed all five and had to reset the trem claw to suit so it now sits just off the body so I can add shimmer to chords. The feel and response of the trem now is what I wanted but it still has the lovely chime it had with the old springs but more so and definitely fatter. Think I may order another set for my JV and reset up its trem. Only thing I don't like with terms is the way the low E if ringing out dips when you bend a tone on the high E or B string.

Just added these to my strat today... It did make a difference ... I like it. Now I need to pick up 3 more sets for my other guitars.
**edit ,,, I ended up using all five springs and it seems just right.

Have any of you tried these out on any strats that have a Hipshot Tremsetter? I have a 1990 Strat Plus that came from the factory with the Tremsetter that I am thinking of trying these on.
