I bought my Galaxie new from Humbucker Music in July 2010. What is the warranty on my amp? I am considering having some mods done to the amp and was wondering if it was worth it if I void the warranty.
Thanks, Pete

Not sure, but I am sure any modifications not performed by an authorized Z repair shop will void any warranty. sales@drzamps.com

Any idea of where I can find warranty information? I took a look around and didn't have any luck. Just wondering if there's time left on my Galaxie warranty - I don't want to void it if there is! Thanks!

Use the email address in my previous post. I couldn't find any information either.
I know you didn't ask but I'll offer you my thoughts on amp mods.
If the amp you own isn't the amp you want, you're better off selling it as is in favor of something you do want. Nobody wants to buy someone else's idea of a customized amp.
I've been down that road and it never turns out the way you envisioned inside your head.

The only mod I am thinking of is something to lower the volume. I have a Brake Lite which I have been using on click 4 at home and it is still too loud. I've been researching other attenuators (the Air Brake for one, the Weber MiniMASS, etc.) as well as Power Scaling options from London Power or Hall Amplification. It is the Power Scaling options as the mod that I am referring to. I am extremely pleased with the sound of the Galaxie - just way too loud for what I want to use it for - home playing and recording. Another option is to leave well enough alone with the Galaxie and keep her as she is and buy another amp more suited to the home playing and recording needs. To that end, I've been looking at the Reeves Custom 12 PS and The Valve "Bimbo" 105. Different than a "Z", I know, but maybe a British flavor would be a nice compliment to the Gal. Another choice may be the Mini Z or M12 w/attenuator...
I love the comments! And always love talking about gear! Please feel free to express whatever opinions cross your mind!
THANKS, Pete

If I were in your situation I would buy another amp. That's why I don't sell my '69 Super, it fills a need.
This is why I like amps. There's always something to fit the bill. And you can justify owning many.

Bruthr, it's a 2x6L6 amp. That's at LEAST 40 watts, any way you slice it. The Triode mode will cut it to maybe 35 "real world" watts, but thats STILL damned loud.
Great old-school "Super that never was" tone, but it HAS to be choked(Airbrake/mini-mass/power soak, whatever)....
You MAY want to explore other options. Carmen Ghia/Z-28/Maz Jr......
FWIW.........

Yeah Pete I would not mod it. The designer has been through all sorts of thoughts and angles on various pathways before production. On commercial amps where this is not always evident then have at it. But I think a Z amp is made to sound best the way it is, and I would vote in agreement with the suggestion to consider one of his other designs. Truth is though, even a small amp can make some real loud sounds but the oomph is gone!

Great advice from everyone! I am convinced that I should leave the Galaxie AS IS. The TONE is too perfect to mess with. I think my best bet is to go with a low watt amp and attenuator for the bedroom/recording stuff. Time to look at the M12, Mini Z, or Maz 8.
Thanks guys!!!
