Has any one used the the 8ohm tap on the mv monza, does it sound any different from the 16 ohm tap. I've read that an 8ohm tap in this case would only use about half the ot. Some amp manufactures claim that 16 ohm amps always sound better because they use the entire transformer. I'm thinking about getting a 2x12 and would appreciate any knowledge. I would prefer to wire 2 16ohms in parallel in case one blows, but if the 8ohm tap isn't as warm I'll probably do something else. Right now I'm running my Monza with a single 12 inch private jack, I'm experimenting with tubes in v1 and v2, I actually like a exh in v1, it seems a little more mellow or smoother. I'm going to pop the lps out of v2 and put a few others in there and see what happens. The jack just screams, beefy throaty tone. I have 4 of them and I would like to put them in a 2x12 in parallel.

The experts say that it doesn't make any difference in sound if you run the 8 ohm tap with an 8 ohm speaker and a 16 ohm speaker with the 16 ohm out. It really comes down to your cabinet configuration.
I personally believe that there is a difference but it is so subtle that you would only hear it if you were recording with a good mic. I try to run all my cabinets with 16 ohm loads, like you said, it uses the entire transformer. It is probably not doing anything different than the 8 but at least I think I am getting the most out of the amp.
