Hi everyone,
I'm a recent EZG-50 owner and what a wonderful amp it is! I have a question for you folks that have owned your EZG-50 for a while and I'm wondering if you noticed a minimal or pretty significant difference in sound after the speaker break in period. My challenge is that I'm not playing out a ton right now and I am limited to when I can really crank it up inside the house (basically when nobody else is in the house). I've heard different numbers in terms of the number of hours needed to really break in the speaker and am interested in your input as to whether I need to set aside time to really crank it up or if the difference is so minimal it won't matter.
Thanks!

When I bought my Port City cab I asked about the best way to break it in. I was told to play an iPod through us a lower volumes for 8-10 hours (or so). I did that using an EHX Magnum .44 for about 12-15 hours. I haven't noticed anything different about the tone after playing through it at fairly decent levels for about two months now. Seems to have done the trick.
I thought it was good advice and worth sharing.

Thank you Matt. That is certainly an interesting way to do it that I had not considered.... although I don't have an EHX Magnum... BTW: I have the EZG-50 combo amp (not the head) in case anyone was wondering. Love to hear additional thoughts from EZG-50 lovers... Thanks again. I've found the information on the threads in the forum very helpful.

I think Celestion might have a procedure on their web site and it has been discussed as posted above. I have the head and play it through several different speakers. I never did anything special, just played and played and my perception is that my feeling of my tone etc. can change from day to day. If you have the time, i do, i say just play it and vary the tone, volume etc. i have read it takes about 40 hours and it is considered broken in, of course it continues to adapt after this. i can always use the practice, but if you were short on time and had to use the amp on a job than consider the ipod method, i just play. Enjoy the amp and the process.
