Just curious...I have a 2/12 loaded w/Greenbacks which I like but I was thinking it might be nice to pull 1 of the GB's and replace it with something that sounds a little different...maybe a hair brighter w/less breakup(or more American maybe). It would need be a lower sensitivity rating to match with the Gb and jensen seems to have quite a few lower sens models.

I tried a Jensen C12Q in a 1x12 closed back cab and really liked the cleans at low-medium volumes, but it seemed to break up too early for my taste. Never tried other Jensen 12's, but had a box with 4 10" alnicos (P10R) and those were nice. I think they make a 12" version of that.

Hey RC, I have a Jensen Vintage series P-12-Q that I bought via Myles suggestion to tame my Z/28, never used it with the 28 though. It's rated at 35 watts and about a 97dB so it should match well with the Greenie, very neutral sounding to me. It has little time on it and all my amps now are too powerful for it.
I can bring it up on my next trip for you to try, if you like it we'll work something out, if not I'll grab it when your done with it.
Later, Curt

Hows the breakup on that P12Q speaker? Ideally I'd like something that doesnt break up quite as fast as the GB's. BTW, have you used that Tonker yet?

BTW, have you used that Tonker yet? That Tonker is a loud SOB !! Tried it with the 66..no Bueno..crushing highs and LOUD. The main reason I wanted it was for my lil 2x6V6 Sewell combo that had great tone with a Tx Heat but ungiggable volume. The Tonker sounds AWESOME with it and I think it is now Giggable. I was fixin' to sell the Sewell til the Tonker came along. I can't really say on the P's break up as I have little time with it and zero gigs. It seems quite neutral to me. It's Alnico so it may or may not hang with the Greenie, try it and see. It'll be a couple weeks I think, but I'll bring it next trip up. If'n ya decide you don't want the Pvt. Jack or one of the Greenbacks keep me in mind. Hey, the Tx Heat is a 97dB speaker albeit 150 watter, I don't want to sell it, but could loan it to you for a beta test as I can use the Blue dawg or V-30 while ya have it.

Yep, that Tonker made my Z28 darn near as loud as a Twin reverb!
I definitely want to try that Jensen. I have an 8ohm GB that originally came in my Z28 that I might need to part with now that I have the 2 GB cab...

I have a pair in a bassman cab that I'm breaking in...They have a cool "thwack" to them and break up early. I did one gig with a tremolux head and they were great, but sometimes at home I get a little less enthused...I still think they need a good break in. They dont have the bass responce of a celestion and are not a loud speaker at all. They broke up too soon in my DR and now I have a Mojo v-30 clone in there. Still a little early for me to tell right now. I also had a NEO in the DR and once that broke in it was really cool. Not as rock 'n' roll as the celestion and didn't cut through as well on a gig however...
